I ordered a banquette/breakfast nook table
Comments (13)Foyboystoo I thought about that! I really wanted a Corian top and couldn't find a bottom for what the entire table cost. So perhaps I could take the top off and have Corian attached. I don't mind that it is oval as I have seen oval ones in other pictures, however it may not look right when it arrives, I just have to wait and see. If I like it but I do not like the light color top with my dark floors, I will stain it. However, I must not forget, that my floors are also dark in my dining room and I got a natural color reclaimed wood dining room table and it looks fine. For $200 I am not considering it a loss and it's the exact size I need so hopefully it works....See MoreReplacing breakfast nook/table with "super island" ?? KD plans inside!
Comments (36)I think the sink opposite the range is fine. But I don't think there's enough refrigeration looking forward with a growing family. Now perhaps this is just me -- your desires and needs should be paramount. You're taking down a wall and combining the kitchen and dining room. LOVE that! Very smart. But then there's a tangle of chairs and stools around the island. The table is a few steps away. That makes no sense to me honestly. I see it all the time and think it might be so much better to build an island with storage and prep and additional refrigeration features -- things that even the kids can use as they grow. If they do their homework or art projects they can use the big table. That lovely bay window is practically ignored! I'd look to use that with a window seat built in and a mom chair nearby....See Morecolor for breakfast nook table
Comments (6)The comments so far are very helpful. I guess my dark table looks better than I thought! Regarding the new table, it’s not in the budget since I want to do other parts of the house. I can have someone paint the table for 175 and get glass for 275. That’s not too bad if it can take us through a few years without purchasing a new table. I read the advice about the durability of the paint, especially on the tabletop. I definitely need to consider this. I like the idea of painting the base white. That’s even less money. The fabric chairs definitely need to go since they are ketchup and spaghetti covered fabric chairs due to the kiddos. Durability and being able to clean them are a must. I didn’t know that about black chairs. I’ll see about finding white or gray chairs as suggested to lighten it up. And yes, it’s super bare in the nook. It definitely needs accessories to make it look pretty. I’m still listening for other suggestions. First time posting and I’m loving the suggestions so far....See MoreBreakfast nook/dining area
Comments (9)Hi Rsh Grge, On the left hand side of the space where the wall is 7'3", you could fit a 24" round bistro table with 2 smallish chairs, angled so they look toward the door opposite. Then you have a space of approximately 9.5' x whatever space there is between front window wall and the door on the right wall, (probably 3.5') for two comfy reading chairs of no more than 32 x 32", with an 18" round table between them. If you'd like a breakfast table for 3 or 4, then figure on a 36" round table on the left with 3 or 4 small chairs, and on the right only one 32 x 32 reading chair and a round table of 18 to 20" beside the chair. Once you get the furniture in place, you'll see what kind of space you have left for plants. Fit in low bookcases where you can. Ikea is an excellent source for the bookcases....See Moremtrot
