Texturizing smooth Hardie boards

I decided to replace all the trim/ cedar on my Tudor home with Hardie materials. The wrong material was ordered/delivered. I wanted the wood grain, but smooth was installed. I discovered this when the install was well in progress. I’m just sick about this and do not want smooth trim on my house.

Is it possible to apply a product with a wood grain roller to give the wood grain look before it gets painted? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Not and maintain any sort of warranty from Hardie. Who made the error in ordering? What do they have to suggest as a fix?

The contractors doing the job ordered all materials. One suggestion from a painter was to put the wood grain siding from Hardie over the smooth.

smooth. hardiplank looks real, so i don't see why it would be a problem putting it on a Victorian home. but smooth will definitely be the right choice. my only concern would be the length of each board from top to bottom. victorian homes have 4" inch boards, right? the hardiplank i see is always 6" or more. right?? maybe i'm wrong about that

Hi don't have experience with the product, but its being installed on our house right now. So far I like the look of it, I'm just hoping it will hold up better or at least be easier to fix than the stucco we had on our previous house. We ordered it primed and will be painting it.

It really depends on how either style complements your house. My house is modern and has vertical, smooth Hardiplank: For my style house, I can't imagine going with anything other than smooth. Hardiplank is incredibly hard and dent resistant, so "blemish hiding" is not really an issue.
