transplanted spires early in the Fall, now I wait?

I cut the back entrance playing on them early in the fall last year. Anything I should do with the weather warming up now? Or just leave them be and wait?

From the responses, it sounds like I should work back from my first frost date by using the DTM of the variety multiplied by some sort of conversion factor to take the shorter days into account, then add the transplant time. But what conversion factor should I use? Maybe 25% more time? Comments (6)Having read some other things, I think I have decided to not plant KBG until Sept. I grow KBG very well in other parts of the lawn with similar sunlight patterns. It might be a bit more than 3-4 hours a day, and some filtered sunlight outside of that. I don't want a different species on the other side of my driveway.... Interesting concept to sprout the weeds, then kill and plant. Will Roundup remain active after a week or so and stunt the germination of new KBG seed? Would I have to rake out the dead weeds first (wouldn't be that hard actually). Interesting concept. I was planning on tarp covering the loam now until Sept to keep wind borne seeds off, and keep erosion down. And to be honest, I am already worried about my water bill so I don't think I want to spend $$ watering weeds I will jsut rake out..... Comments (11)Just a word of advice about locating the tree peonies. It sounds great that the plants will get early morning sun but it causes problems in late winter. What happens is the sun hits the stems and warms the plant up. But when the air is freezing only the side the sun hits is thawed. The other side remains frozen. The area in between is the problem in that the cells are trying to thaw and freeze at the same time. In this area plant cells can burst and cause scar tissue damage the layer that provides nutrician to the plant weakening the plant. If you can provide shade especially on the lower parts of the tp during the winter it is better for the plant. The shade can be as little as a cloth banner or latticework placed in front of them. Don't give up on the scent as sometimes it is so overpowering that it is nasty when the flowers first open. Of course to my nose almost all of the herbaceous corals smell like re-hydrating dried fish. Comments (3)agree ... but in the mean time.... there is a lot you could learn ... we could ID the trees for you ... determine if they are really 4 foot SEEDLINGS ... or whatever ... [i am not sure i would want a tree that is a very young 4 foot seedling] ... im just trying to figure out the word you used.. and what it means ... so we can discuss it best ... whether deciduous ... etc..etc.. etc ... yadda yadda yadda ... it is best to plant or transplant when a tree is dormant ... and even better if leafless ... so the plant doesnt have to work hard to hold onto those leaves .... that is why summer is usually not a great time to do such.. in many if not most locations in the heat of summer ... see link below for proper watering for this summer.. timing for moving ... etc ... big city name would probably help also .... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub...See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
