Yes, upon reflection, an underccounter oven would not be good for my back. I was thinking that maybe I would only use the second oven for parties and holidays, but sometimes we have friends over every weekend. Good point about the cost of separate ovens. I do like the look of double ovens, too. Especially the Bosch 800 series and the Kenmore Pro, but it is very hard to find anything on them...few mixed reviews online. I will ask on this forum. And do some research on Electrolux as well, since they seem to be popular here. I saw the Wolf cooktop at Great Indoors. My mother has a Wolf range, but she hates to cook. Lol. I have accepted that I can't vent with an OTR MW. I will have to spring for an undercabinet hood. Bleah. $1400. Ugh. Loss of cabinet space. Boo. I am thinking that, since I was planning for stacked 42" + !2" or 36" + 18", I will have to mount the MW under a cabinet...h'mmm...maybe I will have to do a mullion door on a 36" or 42", since the 12" or 18" are supposed to be mullion? Thought briefly about putting MW in island, but kids are 6 and 10 and tall, too. LOVE the Kitchens forum. The GE Monogram ZFSB25DXSS is currently $3825 @ Great Indoors, on sale. I liked it bc it is 25 cu ft and well-planned inside. It looks.like close to the same amount of space that we have in our KA Superba, which we bought 9 years ago and has never given us a problem. I will look at KA fridges, thank you! I need the MW drawer money for the undercabinet hood. Boo. But the fridge isn't in my appliance budget, anyway. Lol.

Glad I could help. We can all use a little savings. As for the granite guy, he was referred to us by someone at the distributor. He also called me the day after the installation to see if the cooktop fit OK, which I thought was a nice touch. Also, I failed to mention that the installer also hauled off our old appliances for us, which was a big help. No extra charge for that.

wekick - that's sounds terrible! What bad luck or maybe just goes to show how things are made and how (little) companies care anymore. I am going to look into disputing the charges, but I may be out of luck since we purchased them in April, but didn't move into the house until the very end of May. I had KA's service guy out today who said that in order for KA to classify it as a lemon it has to have the same problem 3 times in one year. Of course, they are not the same problem, although one may be. He also said that there was a "bulletin" out about one of the issues, meaning that KA was aware of the issue. He said they won't recall unmless it's a safety issue, so I guess they just wait for the oven to konk out then take their sweet time fixing it. He had to order the correct parts so oven will be out of service for over a week. I also went in person to the appliance store...they didnt seem to care much either, but at least had to look like they cared since I was sitting right in front of them. I was putting pressure on them to put pressure on their KA rep to do something, so they are sending out their service manager to take a look, and document. Then I think I'll just keep going in there since I'm local, and they hopefully can't ignore me forever! Ginny20, I am going to try complaining to the big wigs, it can't hurt! One last thing to add, after the ovens were serviced the 1st time, out of the box, having NEVER worked, KA had the NERVE to send me a form letter stating, "How thankful you must be..." that the ovens were under warranty and that I should take this opportunity to extend my warranty. Give me a break! I would be thankful if the hunk of junk worked like it's supposed to! I saved that letter and will probably send a copy of it with me letter to reference how terrible their customer "NON service" is.

Well, it's been a while, but I'm still struggling with the issue. It seems like only the small oven has the problem. I've baked my brains out over the last week or so. Also, it seems like items baked at lower temps or short times do not seem to be effected. For example, I baked a pie in the small oven on 375 convection for 45 minutes just fine with consistent temp. Also, the big oven seems ok. I've baked pizza at 500 with a stone just fine. But last night I tried to roast a whole chicken in the small oven. After allowing 30 minutes to come to 450 convection bake, I put the chicken in. After 1 hour (15 minutes longer than it should have taken), the temp in the oven was registering 325. I moved to the large oven and finished it there. So, I am still waiting on the new controller to be installed to see if this is the issue. Evidently, this is a BRAND NEW design for Dacor. I've talked with other service reps and they have not seen the problem, but they say they have not worked on the newer ovens yet. I think they have a problem with the small oven not being able to cycle the lower element correctly. I don't know if this is a problem with all of the controllers or the 2 that I have had in my ovens. I guess we will see. I'm going to run a new test tonight at the suggestion of one of the reps I talked with. I am going to use pure convection mode in the small oven since that is a different element and a different part of the control board. So I'm off to buy another chicken. All this testing is causing some serious weight gain in my house!
