Problems with Dacor oven - model # ECS136SCH
Comments (0)Hi Everyone, I purchased my oven about three years ago but have not had the time to use it much until recently. The first issue I have noticed is that nothing I try to roast browns. However, about a week ago I decided to use the self-cleaning function, even though the oven was only lightly soiled. Well, that's when my problems really started. The oven looked worse after the self-cleaning than it did before. After scrubbing the oven walls manually with a couple of products I realized that the splatters from the grease were permanently etched on the oven walls. To make matters worse, a day after the self-cleaning, I went to turn on the oven to bake something and found that the oven was not heating at all even after preheating for 30 minutes. I have contacted Dacor's customer service about this and they have asked me to contact a local service company and have them call their customer service department when they are at my house so that they can evaluate the situation. I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has had a similar issue with this oven model or any other Dacor oven, and how the company handled the problem. Thank you so much for your help!...See MoreSingle Oven Reliability: Miele, Thermador or Dacor
Comments (3)I researched my single oven purchase until my eyes were cross eyed. Purchased a Gaggenau. Miele was #2. Thermador gets horrible reliability reviews from CR and reviews here and over the net are pretty bad for Dacor. I have read several places were people were upset about such an expensive oven's major parts only lasting 10 years while some mainstreem brands last 20+ years. Allegedly Dacor customer service says these ovens were designed to last 10 years so customers should be happy they lasted their full lifespan. Comments (2)Thanks for the response and link. Does anyone have a DCS wall oven? If so any comments or concerns with that one? Also, so no on KitchenAid (and JennAir), no on Dacor, no on GE, no on Viking... which brands are good with the wall ovens??...See MoreDacor Classic Epicure Wall Ovens
Comments (15)I had both models of Dacor 27" wall ovens. The Classic and the new Discovery. I had each model for about 12 months. I had condensation between the glass on the oven door of my Classic and after one service call which did not correct the problem Dacor offered to either buy back my Classic or they would replace it with the new Discovery model. All done at their cost, no labor fee, no installation fee. Apparently this was something that they knew happened to a few ovens. They told me that if they replaced these ovens with the same model it still happened. So that's why they offered the new model. I took the new Discovery model. The meat probe did not beep when the meat reached the temperature that was set on the control panel. If you search here you will find lots of references to that problem. I was one of the first customers to report this to Dacor and to bring it up here on the appliance forum. It took several months for Dacor's engineers to come up with a solution. When they corrected the problem they sent a new control panel to the appliance company and they came out and installed it. Works fine now. I never had any cosmetic issues with either oven. None of the chipping or bent hinges or anything. The replacement control panel worked the first time. I honestly can't explain how others have had such a difficult time with theirs. The only other 'issue' we've had actually seems to be common with many different brands of ovens. And that is when you are baking you should continue to preheat the oven after the oven signals that it's at temperature. For roasting it is less important. This has also been discussed on this forum. I tried to be brief, but I hope this helps....See Moregrahamsheldon
