Anyone own a Mazda CX5?

When the weather warms up again I'm going to go test drive one, along with other vehicles. Just wondering if anyone has one and how you like it? I've never owned a Mazda before. I don't even think I've ever ridden in one either.

Not planning on buying a car anytime soon but would like to rule out most in case my old car bites the dust. It has over 225,000 miles on it. Not sure how much longer it will last. I don't want to be scrambling, desperately looking for a car at the last minute.

My son just bought a 2019 "gently used" . He thinks buying new cars is a big waste of money. He's a real car guy, so he knew exactly what he wanted. He has had several Mazdas before and knows their reliability. On I also have had two over several decades and can vouch for the reliabilty.

We have one! It's about 7 years old (hard to believe). It is sporty and zippy, never has problems!

I should add that our 20 y.o. is the primary driver. It feels like a "fun" car, but isn't the most plush in terms of luxury. For myself, I prefer a more plushy seat.

I have had mine for a year. It is a very challenging car to drive--as far as the controls are of radio, heater, wipers, none of it is intuitive. #2 DD was wanting one and NOT HAPPY when mom got one first (DH picks the cars I just drive) she drove mine once, hated it and got a Subaru instead. It has very poor visibility when trying to see out windows, the blind spot is huge. I like to sit high and it's not a big car so that's a plus.

Close to 2 years ago now, when my neighbor and I were both looking for new cars, we test drove a few Mazdas, including the 5. My neighbor (whose van was totaled) wanted something that would still let her haul gardening stuff -- many bags of mulch, flats of flowers, etc. She did like the 5 when she took it for a test drive herself. Once someone was in the passenger seat, it felt too tight, both in elbow room and head room. We both like a little more "air" over our heads. I don't see too many on the road, either: I think the 5 is just a mini-minivan -- and that people looking for that extra space just go with a traditional minivan. She ended up buying the CX9. She doesn't like it so much anymore -- the handling, the road noise. Road noise seems to be a problem throughout the Mazda line, I learned when I was researching for my new car (test drove the Mazda 3, 6, CX7; bought a Hyundai wagon instead). Concerning your height, there are so many vehicles now that have the seat height adjustment (either standard or as part of an optional pkg), and that will give you a better view of the road and a better handle for parking spaces. (And I agree with the concern that the dealership is so far from you.)

Let me warn people about the Maytag MTW6700TQ Bravo, which is a high efficiency top loader. It is a slightly later model than the MTW6600. The older MTW6600 is very similar to the Kenmore Oasis, and the Whirlpool Cabrio (all made by Whirlpool it would seem). The MTW6600 was apparently known for twisting clothes too much. The redesigned impeller on the 6700 was supposed to fix that problem, which I think it has. That's not the problem we're having. I just cannot figure how others haven't seen the same problem as us. The claim is high capacity. But if you put anything close to a full load, most of the time the close on the top never leave the top. Even for half load it sometimes happens. The clothes on top will just stay on top and never get moved around or tumbled about. I've seen this over and over now, and in fact I'm watching a load right now where a small throw blanket on the top of some clothes has not budged from the beginning, hovering on top like a cover. I bought a Maytag cause I loved our old one until repairs were getting too expensive. I read a few positive reviews about the 6700TQ before buying it (reviews are kind of hard to find), and I just don't get it. Maybe people aren't watching it through the clear top to see what's happening with the clothes. It takes about 15 minutes after the start for the actual wash cycle to start. (the whole process is about 57 minutes if you do an extra rinse). I'd love to hear what other owners of the 6700TQ have experienced. It's really too bad, because my wife and I much prefer the convenience of a TL, and this one seemed great on paper, and it seemed really nice to load the clothes without the agitator post in the way. But if it doesn't work right, it doesn't work right. Try to see a demo before you buy. Until they get the kinks worked out, I'd recommend the old style TL, or a FL. We thought hard about the Samsung FL with vibration reduction technology and Silver Care.

I have no direct experience with it, but when I bought my Kia I asked the owner of the shop where I take my vehicles what his opinion was on them. The owner said the Hyundais/Kias they've had were pretty much all very reliable and better than average. His immediate follow-up was when they tell you to change timing belts, DO NOT put it off, otherwise they're good cars. I also asked his son who works on more cars now than does his dad and he said both Kia and Hyundai were real reliable but the only one they've had higher than average calls on was the Elantra. Since that wasn't the model I bought, I didn't go into why or what kinds of problems. This has been several years now since they told me this so things obviously can change. Judging todays cars by performance of cars 10 or 20 years ago is not wise either. I'd suggest you ask your mechanic for an opinion. I will say that most any car these days is quite reliable providing they were given reasonable care and maintenance. I got a bargain on my Kia and have not regretted its purchase in any way.

I don’t know much about KIA, but I do think they are a nice looking vehicle. If you want something else to consider, you might want to look at the Mazda CX-5. I got mine 2 years ago and I really like it. It’s rides nice, is comfortable for both driver and passengers, the AWD works wonderful in snow, especially on our inclined drive and there’s plenty of room in the back for our Lab. KBB.com has rated them as one of the best for it’s class, it’s right up there with the Honda CRV.

My daughter bought one last spring. Her first "real" vehicle since she started working. She loves it and I always comment that it looks like a luxury brand. She has absolutely no complaints about it.

Mine is 7 years old. Only a couple of problems and both were fixed under warranty. I've owned both Toyotas and Hondas. I like the Mazda much better - quieter and better quality finishes.

I love my 1990 MX5 (STILL own it), if that counts. AND, at one time, we owned eight cars, six of them were Mazdas. Love them!

I have a 2016, actually bought in 2015. Mine is the Touring model. I had 700 miles on it when the transmission went out. Mazda replaced it no problem, but I was so disappointed. I'd never had a problem with a brand new car. No problems since though and I have 75000 miles on it now. According to the onboard computer I get about 26 mpg, it's AWD and does well in snow. Has good ground clearance. Seats are not the most comfortable for long rides IMO. No leg room in back seat but I don't usually have adults in the back. For a 4 cylinder car it has plenty of pep. Drives good. Couple of features I really like are blind spot monitoring and the backup camera. But in the dark the camera is pretty grainy. The heat and especially air could be better. I mean it's sufficient but I've had better. Overall, I'd say it's a good car. Would I buy another? Hard to say. It might depend on how long this one lasts for me.
