Comments (3)Nuts are a good snack, I like to grab a handfull for a quick snack. I also found these nut clusters that are just nuts with a little sweetness that holds them together they are by True North. Cheese or peanut butter are both good. I get flatbread crackers you get very little cracker and it is good with either of those items on it. I found these great granola chips they are super thin and crispy come in various flavors by Willamette Valley granola company I really like the berry flavor. I get those at Kroger in the healthy food section. I have also found there recently by Simply 7 pomegranate chips I get the pinch of sea salt ones they are very good too. Willamette Simply 7 Snacks TRUENORTH Planters also now makes a heart health nut mix. Also a really good snack are any type of jerky, I get the Old Wisconsin beef stick pieces(they come in turkey too) and those with a piece of cheese is really good. Old Wisconsin Original Snack Bites I find those with the jerky in most stores. And of course pork rinds which now come in a variety of flavors. You can actually buy a snack pack that comes with a little section of cheese and a beef stick, easy to carry. I also like Nature valley crunchy granola bars and carry one in my purse for emergencies snack needs. If you have a tendency to have your blood sugar drop rapidly I would suggest always having some glucose tablets on hand....See MoreToo sweet; diabetics better not open this! (Puppy Harry)

Comments (6)I hope you feel better soon Lucille. sisters, the piece you link to is a letter to the editor, not a research report. Even through written with strong conviction, it's an opinion. And even if it were the results of a research project, such things don't get carved into stone until the passage of time and the work of others to prove or disprove reported findings. And even then, stone carvings often get removed when time and further study suggest other answers. I think it's still much too soon for anything more than anecdotal experiences, tendencies and possible trends to be focused on. There has hardly been enough time for rigorous study and analysis....See MoreLiving with diabetes and those who live with other medical issues
Comments (30)Wow Lucille! Are you sure your reading was 35? At that level, I'd think you'd be passing out. I have been diabetic type 2 for 20 years and I get fuzzy headed if my glucose reading falls to 60. Usually, I become aware of a low glucose condition at 90 and below. I watch for signs of low glucose when driving. Its very important to correct low glucose if driving. One should not let it fall below 90 and 100 is a better low mark when driving. I keep a tube of 10 glucose tablets in my auto's console and carry 5 hard candies in my back pocket. Reasonable cost glucose tablets are available from Walmart. They have tubes of 10 tabs and jars with 100 tabs. The tabs are lower cost in the 100 tab jar. I keep my empty 10 tab tubes and refill those from the larger jar....See More- 4 years ago
