Feminine office space help

this is my office space off my bedroom it’s long and narrow. It has become a dumping zone which I am currently in the process of cleaning out but what I am left with is a file cabinet a stack of drawers a bookshelf a dark desk and a comfy leather heavy chair that is probably too big for the space but love working in it sometimes. This is my writing area and I would like it to be more inspiring, feminine and braider. What can you recommend obviously a runner would be nice but other things to make a dark furniture area more feminine?

I would suggest: change your light bulbs so that they are same. Right now desk lamp gives off a yellow glow and the ceiling lights a white glow. Maybe a pillow on the leather chair for color. yes a rug for color and pattern. Some artwork on the walls.

Paint the walls white or pale pink OR use wallpaper

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You've def. helped me weed out the no-go's and I'm going to order samples today. My3dogs - the color is Jonesboro Cream. It does tend to lean towards green on my monitor too, IRL I wish it would go green just a hair more but it's pretty much a warm tan. It's often lumped into an orange category as an undertone. Can't say I see that though. If I were to repaint (which I AM NOT :O)!) to get it perfect I would do it SW Wool Skein. Roobear - what can I say?! Thank you so much! Your visual was so wonderfully helpful! Yaya - I hear what you're saying about the tea stain and it's funny that you mention that because I was just wondering the same thing this past week about tea staining upholstery fabric. Once the sample of #7 arrives I will try to tea stain it if it appears too white. Has anyone tea dyed fabric and then used it to upholster something or make a pillow? Aren't those cabinets wonderful?!

Help with converting dining room to office space

I have an open concept living area so my office space is open to the more formal living area. I recently remodeled and what I did was incorporate as much storage as possible so that things could be hidden away. My printer is installed inside a lower cabinet that rolls out so that it is hidden. This also stores paper. There is an outlet in this cabinet to plug in the printer. I don't need huge amounts of file storage so at this point almost everything is digital but I have one smallish file cabinet to hold some hanging files. My desk counter area runs the width of the wall and also does a turner at the corner. This is where I have my computer. I have upper cabinets which have sliding decorative doors and these hold a multitude of sins - they also complement the design choices of my living room in terms of color and style as they are Art Decoish in style. I have a little covered compartment by my computer which holds my external hard drives which I use for backup and additional storage of digital files. My designer had suggested using a fabric on the wood between the counter/desk and the upper cabinets which would be a decorative way of pinning stuff. My office needs really aren't into pinning paper as I try to get rid of as much paper as possible but this would be an attractive option for people who do pin stuff. I purchased a very stylish (and comfortable) office chair. It is upholstered non-traditionally in teal blue faux ostrich :-). Again this complements design elements from the living room. For me the key was balancing functionality and aesthetics and maximizing hidden storage.

Blue and Teal go together and work well with earth tones. The closeup of the carpet shows threads of blue and teal so of course! There are many shades of teal, so I agree, get your furnishings and decor first, then pick a wall color that goes with them and the carpet.

What Juliet said. Since you've got two light fixtures, neither centered in the room, you might want matching attractive semi-flush fixtures, instead of chandeliers. Maybe a throw blanket on the chair in addition to the pillow. Drapes on the window. A floor lamp behind your chair.

I've found pretty shelves work wonders, in small office spaces, like the one I have. Especially if the shelves are clear, or some pretty material like wood or copper.

In my own tiny office space, I can take my paintings off the wall and flip them over to access the wipeboards (one for daily/weekly plans, the other for general use) that I stuck to the back of the canvases, inside the canvas frames.

I bought quite a few decorative files, for record keeping, as well. There are these super durable, transparent rainbow-colored plastic files on Amazon, that I chose, but there are a lot of options for decorative filing.

I personally also like pretty lamps? I have a lotus-shaped lamp, and I've seen these awesome book lamps, boho lamps, or stained glass lamps that can really make any space look beautiful.

Does anyone have photo shop and can show me a rendering of what the space 'could' be using the brown desk and big chair in the corner those peices are heirlooms so I don't wanna get rid of them.
