Uh oh - not another one!
Comments (17)Deftired we are obviously different generations! Mtn today was only my second time trying it. Remains to be seen if I'll stick with it. I've done the geography version several times now and have had a few successes that honestly surprised the heck out of me. I consider myself pretty pathetic with geography, typical American. But I find myself digging into the answer country a bit and wandering the Google globe of the area for more context so it's stretching me a bit in that regard....See MoreWordle anxiety
Comments (58)I would also be skeptical of a person who claims to almost always get the answer in 2, especially using the same starting word. I think getting the answer in one, two, or even sometimes 3 guesses (depending on whether your starting word is good or not that day) is luck, but there is skill in avoiding a loss. It's a matter of recognizing possible word patterns, making sense of the information that you get from prior guesses, etc., more than luck. Obvious exceptions are words like "watch," where it can also be catch, batch, hatch, latch, match, etc. There is some luck involved there....See MoreOh oh! Trying to keep us on our toes? Wordle
Comments (30)I normal play on my ipad where I have my daily stats/streak but earlythis morning while waiting for a vet appt, I played on my phone. I got the "hot topic" word in three guesses, and was surprised they would use that word (not knowing anything about NYT changing it). Then I got home and went to play the same words on my ipad to keep up my stats and was surprised when my starting word showed two green letters rather than the three yellow had on my phone. I realized then the NYT had changed the word before I played the game on my ipad. Easy word tho - got it in two guesses which was a better score than what I had for the deleted word. i saw the story later about NYT changing the word....See MoreWordle players... move to The Garden Party?
Comments (72)I play wordle and a few others and have posted and created threads about it. So I like the games. However, I too noticed the "character" if you will of KT was changing because wordle and its offshoots were proliferating and becoming more dominant and prominent...by my estimates taking up 1/3 of the first page posts. While we have had a few long-term games dating back years, they have never predominated or proliferated as wordle has done. Other threads about various games such as spelling bee were more like other conversations that were a single topic, active for awhile, and then drifted off. So, for me, it's wordle and kin that have created the change in KT, and that's why I selected them to give them more space at GP. I'd suggest that subsequent game-related threads move there as well. But I am not czarina here. I'm just trying to facilitate what I see as an improvement for all involved...KT not overrun with wordle threads and wordlers having their own space for convos about the games. There is nothing that prevents anyone else from doing just what I did...create a new thread in GP and cross link with the sister thread on KT. If you think other threads should also have a home in GP, go for it. I've done my part. People are voting with their postings as to which they prefer. We'll let it grow organically and with time, we'll see what settles out....See MoreLars
