LVP vs. Beauflor Laminate

Due to an insurance claim for water damage, we need to replace our wood floors in our open concept kitchen/living room. We have a 100 pound puppy so our main goals are waterproof and scratchproof (as much as possible). We have 18 foot ceilings with a wall of windows on the west side.

We have met with two different contractors and theyre telling us completely different information.

#1 recommends Beauflor Hydrana Laminate, made in Belgium. Used a key to scratch the material (and it didn’t scratch). Told us LVP would be more likely to scratch and some get damaged in direct sunlight (said laminate would not).

#2 recommends Shaw Floors Pro Series LVP, said sunlight was not an issue but that it could be with some laminates. Said they didn’t like to sell laminate but that sales reps are really pushing it right now. They recommend the glue down LVP for added scratch protection, which is less expensive, but they’re trying to find something similar to the Pro Series we selected.

They both are well known in our area and have 5 star reviews, so we’re a little perplexed by the complete difference of opinions.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
