Entryway Help! Rug Ideas!

Just changed the flooring to a carrera marble and I’m going to be painting my walls a cream colour, dark navy doors and white trim.

What colour area rug should I do? I need something for the winter season, I have 3 kids.

I need something wide enough to comfortably enter and then a runner.

Also open to decor ideas, table, mirror, a bench.

I’m also Changing the chandelier too, it’s black and has a vintage industrial feel.

I would use a longer runner since you probably have several people entering at once and no one wants to wait their turn to come in when it’s -30! While I love bold navy and white strips my thoughts are a darker, varigated random pattern rug to minimize the “stuff” that comes in on boots and shoes, or so says the granma of 5 😵‍💫

Cararra marble IMO does not work well with cream type colors . Maybe think moreon the lines of a soft gray as close as possible to the gray in the floor . Is this your front entry ? IMO it never is good to have a nice front entry as the main entry for the family if at all possible . A nice cararra marble floor says elegant a bunch of coats and boots all over the place not so much.

yes its my entryway? i didnt ask for your opinion on my kids boots and jackets, its minus 30 and boots and jackets are needed. i asked for opinion on rug colours

I’d worry about a solid light coloured rug in an entryway and maybe consider a black and white striped rug, which would tie in with the black iron on your staircase and hall table. You could add a black/brass fixture to coordinate with mirror also and your entrance would be really cute and welcoming. I have tried to find different rugs in either of the two sizes you referenced, but had no luck. Thank you @everdebz! I’m new to the site so haven’t added any idea boards yet. I am actually going for a brighter look. Mix of contemporary/French/farmhouse. We will be renovating that living room you see from the foyer and it will have hardwood floors. We are not renovating the foyer but would like to tie in these styles. There is a little contrast between the formality of the floor, which is lovely, and the hooks, etc. which are maybe a bit more rustic. If you are comfortable, I'd lose the curtain. What are all the doors? Maybe start with just painting the front door navy and then see? Although I'm a little tired of gray, I think it would be better here than a cream? Maybe a very subtle white/gray? Ruggable has such nice choices, check them out.

Okay, I actually do like the idea of changing the colour of the front door! I am torn between a charcoal grey or navy.

I will loose the curtain, we just moved in a couple months ago so it’s slowly coming together.

1 door is the powder room and the other is the garage entrance.

I like ruggable, should i paint the door first and get a rug afterwards?

I like the combination of pinks and mauves or sage greens, or a combination of the two, for a a rug color. These colors would contrast nicely with the black lighting fixture and your black/wood hall table. I attached a picture of my touches of pink and green contrasting my charcoal countertop. Your marble flooring and entryway is lovely!!

if you often come in from the garage, do you have room there for pegs for their jackets and a place for their shoes? Kculbers had some nice color suggestions for you too.
