Hi everyone, we will be moving in a few months and I’m wondering if anyone can give me some ideas for my daughters room. I’m keeping the wood trim, floors are hardwood. I’m just stuck on paint colour. This bed won’t be there as it’s the current owners but gives an idea of the room. Thanks so much!

So, they will be seeing the wall behind her, I presume? Can you show that? The key thing here, is that your daughter in involved in this. How does she learn? Does she work better if she has choices and then choose? Or does she want to create this herself.? I think the pillow would be great to use, but no one is going to see it in its current location.

I'm with Lyn, very little clashes with navy. You could go high contrast with a complementary color in the orange family. You could stick with colors that are adjacent on the color wheel (green and purple). But really, reds, pinks, and yellows all look good with navy. You can go with a bold color (hot pink!) or choose something more muted (terra cotta or a muted olive green). It just depends on where you want to take it.

Lavender is a color used with North blue/gray light. How about this idea? Paint the walls a color which loves lavender as an accent, but is the best companion with south light? It has a very romantic name and a 4 year old may fall in love with it: B.M. Moonshine: Paint the ceiling B.M. Spring Violet. Sweet bedding and a fluffy rug…could last through grade school. Add art your daughter loves on the wall…. This is a first time, fun, Mom/Daughter experience you will remember forever. My daughter and I still do it and she is 50. Her summer Cape Cod house and, recently, (although delayed by covid), her Boston condo, keeps us together, having fun and spending her money.
