Not too late at all-- we have not even broken ground yet, I am just trying to get all the decisions made, or at least narrowed down, as soon as I can. I'm glad to hear you like the Andrea, and that you found the 60 x 32 to be comfortable. That is the one I have tentatively decided on, even though I haven't found one to sit in. I looked really carefully at the specs and it seems the closest in back slope and arm rests to the tub I have now, even though this one is much longer. I do like the modern lines as well. Are you doing the drop-in or undermount? I guess if i do a tile deck, I'll have to do the drop-in, but it should look fine. (You are so right, a lot of the modern sleek-looking tubs have way to straight of a back for me.)

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I would want if they were only offered in bigger dimensions. I have the space for a bigger tub and 48x48 is just too small. Does anyone else have a suggestion???

Thanks, JC. I don't have a drawing -- I think we are headed to DIY mode, or rather, subbing out the parts ourselves. Our tile guy is excellent, and also installs solid surface. We will do IKEA cabs, probably, but he can order Diamond, which might do. I i could, however, photograph my hideous existing tub? It is a pretty basic setup. Pony wall, Americast oval-in-a-square drop-in bathtub, then a framed shower. My plumbing supply guy is worried about the spout reach, but I can't see why. It is 6.75 to the center of the spout. So if the spout is even 1.5" (at most) -- plus 1" of,over hang still leaves better than 4" for the deck. The tub has no slant, it is a straight vertical drop to the drain, so no wall for the water to hit. Okay, I'm just thinking out loud now. . . .

My bathtub has integrated grab bars. I would use the side of the tub or tub wall unless I was so decrepit I couldn't straighten from bending over without help. Then I would install more grab bars. But honestly, your well used gym membership is a better investment in aging in place at this point. The integrated grab bars are useful because the tub is so deep that I just about float in it. :) They make sliding down and up surprisingly easier. And unlike the elbow shelves in my Kohlers, they don't make cleaning a pain.
