I'd take off the decals and start saving all I could spare to have this weird setup removed! Sorry, wish I could think of something clever to make this look better. Maybe if the window areas could be drywall overed to just be walls it wouldn't look quite to strange until you can afford to rip it out.

It's not really that bad. Get in the space and take more pictures!

Previous owners were probably confused by it too--that's why they tried to make the windows more decorative.

It appears there's a HVAC thingie in it, which suggests that it was built that way. Paint that to match the wall.

Instead of drywalling up the windows--if you're up for drywall work--drywall it to the ceiling instead. Then it becomes a hallway. A weird hallway, sure. :)

oooohh, I didn't think of going up to the cieling ... that might be a less expensive fix for this ..thanks for the idea! And, yes, there is the AC return vent in the wall which makes removal of that monstrosity more complicated/expensive

...and add in covering the windows while you're at it. They can't be good for furniture placement!

It looks like a nice bright home in spite of (or because of!) it's oddities. You'll make it work!

It is an odd add on. My first thought that it was needed as a private office for someone seeing clients in their home.

Is the other side closed off?

If you can’t demo, i would sheetrock over the windows. That is what really makes it look odd.

Without the windows, it would look like a den with french doors.

It’s probably where your house used to end but then there was an addition added.

I don’t think you should do anything to it because it’ll just call more attention to it
