Bathrooms Design Dilemma Paint

Any ideas on painting my rental bathroom?

Hey community, I would like to create a calm, spa-like atmosphere in my rental bathroom. It's about a 8square meter bathroom in about a regular rectangular shape.
I have permission to paint the tiles. So far I am planning to put in wooden flooring (laminate) and get rid of the sink and shower cabin to use a curtain instead. The furniture will be gone too.
I am wondering about how to paint the walls in order to the greatest effect. I actually don't dislike the colour scheme if the tiles as it is but don't want them to look dated.
Would you recommend painting the tub?
-To what would you paint and keep the existing finish of my tiles?
Would you recommend creating half walls? Maybe in the bathtub area?

Oh my. As a landlord myself, I would never have given you permission to paint tiles. This could cost you thousands and thousands if they are unable revert it back to how it looks now. Never lay laminate in an area prone to water. My suggestion: throw a bunch of spa-like wooden mats down and ad wall hangings held up by removable hooks that won’t destroy the tile. Add a bamboo tub tray in and some greenery.

I have to agree with above. Its a nice looking bathroom. It just needs some color added, and laminate flooring will never hold up in a bathroom. Laminate hates moisture, and if it gets wet you will have a mess. The tiles are neutral, and in really good condition. Add color in accessories, and dont put any paint on those tiles. It will just end up being a nightmare for someone else to remove. If you need something else on the floor, use some area rugs.

Hi Beth! I lurk here now because we are redoing our main bathroom. As homemaker states, cauk with paintable silicone, prime with zinsinger (sic) and repaint. This will give you a fresh look. If part of the panels are popping up/lifting, use small nails first to flatten it down. The other option is a bigger project though one we know you can handle. Tiling using 4 x 4 tiles would be inexpensive. I'd cap them off with a squared edge wood trim similar to the rest of your house and maybe use one thin pencil liner after the first row to add some color. Tile behind the vanity because some day you may want to have a pedestal. In fact, for this project you should remove the toilet as well. But, with an Oct 15 deadline and liquid nails to scrape off I'd go with the first option. Though it's deadlines like those that really push these projects forward! I would offset the pinkness with taupe brown shower curtains, then do the walls a palladian blue which is so mesmerizing that no one will notice the blush in the tan tile. You could even use a darker towel in the browns too. On a wall opposite the tile put an artwork which has beautiful colors. The human eye will go directly to color before it looks at anything else in the room so don't put anything colorful near the tile but pop it around the rest of the room.

WE...that looks so AMAZING! The accessories are just right so zen and calm..one thing I would try is put white vase on tray and the gray vase on the counter..just for the heck of it...get some big fluffy white towels and roll them up and put them under the Buddha shelf....The Shade Store and Smith & Noble are great with shades so I am sure you will be able to get exactly what you need. the trim around the mirrors makes such a difference and love your new modern lighting...look at all that wonderful new hardware!:)

I would replace both counters and sinks. The sinks do not match so even if you do (sort of) match the brown counter they will not look like they go together.

Just paint the door and trim. Purchase a nice area rug(maybe 4x6) to cover the floor and a nice shower curtain.

Don't mess around with those tiles. Save your dreams for a property that you own and then go to town on it.

Also, if you have permission to paint the tiles, make sure it is in writing!

Thanks guys! Oh, I made a mistake. -I meant vinyl flooring, not laminate, of course especially meant for bathrooms. They sell it a lot in Germany where I live. Are you still saying it wouldn't be the right solution?

I wouldnt cover the floor with anything. It looks to be in good condition. I would however, find a nice area rug or two, to put in there, so its warmer on your feet. Everything else seems to be in good condition.
