Cohesive colored kitchen

Ok, so I am definitely humble enought to admit when I am out of my element and this is one of those time. I am HORRIBLE at anything that has to do with color choice, as far as more than 1 color. So it all starter because I liked this green color our friends had in their house. I got the color (SW dried thyme) and decided to paint my kitchen that color. It was an ugly oatmeal/yellow color before. So once I painted the walls, my husband agreed we could get new countertops but that was all he was willing to do, as we were trying to just "refresh" the kitchen, not remodel it. So, I took my paint sample, a cabinet color sample and a floor color sample with me to pick one out, trying to make it pull everything together and this is what I got. I originally thought I did good and was so proud of myself, but the finished countertops, and the sample peice look way different and I HATE them, but being as they're brand new (so is the floor) I'm stuck with it. So now I'm trying to basically do damage control. I'm willing to paint cabinets, walls, and redo the backsplash, I just want advice from people who don't suck at this. The only thing about painting the cabinets is that the color that they are is all throughout the kitchen (our table and some trim) and I was afraid it would then make those things look out of place?? Please help a girl out.

I think it looks good just the way it is. It is not horrible. The countertops are very nice and look good. The wallpaint is pretty, but, it may make it feel darker in there. I cant tell how much lighting you have, and if your lightbulbs are daylight type led. Your backsplash is fine too. No need to change it. I would add a prettier rug in front of the stove, and maybe replace the heat grate, to one that is woodgrain in a color that matches into your floor. If you really dont like the paint, but, like green, you could paint it a couple of shades lighter than what you have, even though, I do think what is there is ok.

its fine...really. I might browse the runner mats at H Depot and Lowes suitable for that area left of floor register. Get something to anchor the tans browns and some green in a pattern.

The stone is gray and gray is neutral. If you like it, don't paint it. Gray stone could go in a variety of design schemes: Coastal- rocks on the coastline; Rustic Mountain or Lakehouse; Zen gray neutral/ minimalism-natural stone; Euro Cottage -traditional & quaint- stone chimney/ hearth; Tropical.... Z Gallerie has a wide selection of wall art. Their pillows,are pricey, but with a little Internet search, you can find the same fabric and make your own. Perhaps my Kirkland's had a narrow stock supply, but I found their wall art limited. However, do shop in the clearance section for framed pieces. I found 4 (26x32 inch) framed wall art pieces that had driftwood wood frames in the clearance section for $20each. Frames of that size would be well over $100.. I removed Kirkland'sbrown board backing and the image inside and replaced them with giclee prints that I ordered on-line. I used a staple gun to close the back of the frame. The hardest part was using pliers to remove the Kirkland's staples that secured the backing.. The prints I chose were selling at Ethan Allen store for $300 each!!

Before any and all..........address the kitchen layout and function. I doubt you can open the fridge fully, the desk should go, I think you do not want a microwave over the range. .........All these, including a more built in look for the fridge, should come before tops of any variety. Frankly, it appears the kitchen is too small for the island within it. Start with clearances, layout etc, before the bells and whistles

What does your laundry have to do with your master bath? Nothing, unless it is IN that master bath.. Can blue and green be used in same house ? Absolutely. Your buggy is ahead of the horse. Post the remodel P.l.a.n. That is the walls, the layout, etc of what you are doing, especially if moving walls. That means what is the kitchen plan, the bath plan etc. and as they relate and are located within your living space. You are way, way way out over your skis: )

I’ve begun painting accent colors and bold paint choices throughout our house and wanting to add a few more but need advice: is it okay to use the same or similar bold paint color or do I need to lighten the tone or switch color? They are all cohesive with each other but the last thing I want is to walk in a room and think “oh, here is that same bold color again…”. For example, our fireplace is painted in Kendall Charcoal for a dramatic contrast and the upstairs bonus room accent wall also in KC. Neighboring playroom in two tone white with lower half KC. My mostly separate dining room is a deep blue -Caligraphy - and my small kitchen island is an even deeper blue - Poppy Seed. I want to paint the dated hutch in my kitchen perhaps the same color combo as separate my office bookcases (that include Gauntlet Gray which is similar to the KC in the living room) but is that too much of that charcoal gray? I’d also love to add some drama to my powder bath by painting the ceiling deep blue as well, but again, is that too much of the same bold color used in the dining room and kitchen island? Should I be moving to a lighter maybe green blue to incorporate another color variation? Pictures of some of my colors here and there and my swatches throughout the house. Note: I have NOT settled on a whole house color but it will be in the creamy white category. Is there a rule of thumb say, no more then 3 uses of the same bold color? Any tips greatly appreciated! Lighting in there is good, although I probably could use some updated lighting fixtures. We bought this house off of older folks who I don't think had updated it since the early 80s, so we've been doing little by little as we can. I LOVE the green color and would like to keep it. I told my husband I'd paint all of the rooms this color if I could. I have a runner to the left, you just can't see it in the pictures, my back door is over there so we have a brownish runner to catch all the mud. You guys made me feel much better. Thanks! Let me know if you want to help me throw around ideas for my half bath. Lol it's terrible!in the picture you can see the runner, and curtains I hung to cover my washer and dryer.

Painting walls also requires painting the ceiling, window and floor trim as well to have a fresh look. Add some undercabinet lighting if you have a safe place to plug it in. I an guessing the kitchen area was remodeled at one point, hence the odd floor vent - definitely need to replace as previously mentioned. A personl choice, but I felt a little weirded out by the phildendron traveling across the ceiling, like Little Shop of Horrors 😛😬

Hahahahahaha yes. She's only going across the ceiling because I have a toddler that likes to try and pull on it if not, my husband hates it too, he said he feels likes he's in a jumanji everytime he gets coffee in the morning ὠ2 but yes, this kitchen was once a smaller kitchen and a "wet porch" that housed the washer and dryer, at some point they decided to just make it all one big room. I'm assuming the vents use to be under where the old windows were...? I'll definitely gets a new floor vent though. It's one of those things that you look at so often you don't even notice it anymore. ᾒ6‍♀️

Your kitchen is lovely. You did a great job picking out the paint and the counters. The wood cabinets add some warmth to the cooler grays and greens.

I would get a nice area rug for in front of the stove and the back door.

Love the rug that Jennifer Hogan just posted a picture of. Its exactly what I pictured, when I mentioned a new rug. It adds a lot to your kitchen. Once you get used to the change, I think you will like it too.
