I think the height of the rods is fine. I do like the wider width of the drapery behind the headboard, don't you? One thing you need to do is take the last ring on the outside of each drapery panel and hang it to the other side of the support bracket on the ends. The drapery will hang better and will also hide and bridge the brackets on the ends, rather than draw attention to the supports by stopping inside of them. Things are really shaping up nicely. I am not sure that you need the euroshams on the bed - I think the contrast of the headboard against the light drapery is nice, and will perhaps be lost once the euroshams are there. I would also look for a warmer color lampshade for the bedside lamp, perhaps with some trim that you add to pull the red and gold onto the shade. Since you can sew, I would think about slipcovering the cedar chest with a pretty upholstery fabric that contains the colors of both sets of bedding, and goes to the floor. If you add padding on top under the slipcover, it will look like a great bench and also eliminate a bit of the wood in the room. Great job!

Thanks for all your comments! This is definitely a strong color and the reaction among the 10-15 Realtors & stagers who came through the house in the past year was as mixed as the responses here. One stager said to keep the paint because this is the last room anyone is going to see when they tour the house (at the end of a long hallway) and buyers will have fallen in love with the house long before they get there. The other colors in the house are much more subtle. Actually now that I think of it, it was only the Realtors who wanted the color changed; all 4 stagers who came through to bid on the staging work said to keep it as is. Having toured dozens of houses in my town in the past 3 years, I'm totally bored with over-staged houses and their neutral wall colors and furnishings, plus the inevitable pop of red accents. But that's probably just me. It's amazing how a photo highlights certain characteristics - the intensity of the paint, and the pink tone of the dresser which I don't see at all in real life. live_wire_oak - I'll see what my painter says about a whitewash when he's here next week. sashasmommy thanks for your comments :) dianalo thanks for weighing in as an agent and for your hopes for a quick offer :) kmcg8 - I agree about the wood trim, looks very 80s. Yeah, Moe's pillows are too spendy for me and are made from real lamb. (I have a soft spot in my heart for little lambs and can't bear the thought of eating them or making things out of them - YMMV.) Here's a faux fur that's actually pretty good looking. It's on Amazon for less than $30, although it's not that yummy lilac color as is my inspiration. I wonder if my cats would lick something like this to death ...

Your room looks fantastic. I've vote against curtains. You simply don't need them, your windows are beautiful, and the views provide color and texture to your space. I wonder if your room feels completely different in spring vs winter? Does it feel cold or more stark with no leaves on the trees? I also don't think you need to paint, though the green is a beautiful color. Should you live with this for a while and decide you want color, you've nailed it with that shade of green. You could go much bigger with the bench at the end of your bed and the extra wood would add more warmth. However, the one you have is pretty and functional. Seems wasateful to ditch it for a new one.
