Some smart@ss in my family put the Lady Gaga documentary at the top of the queue. Doesn't hurt that we like Lady Gaga, but sheesh, its not even in Blu-Ray. I just put 'Bitter Feast' on 'Save', with Mario Batali playing against type. "Bitter Feast 2010NR 113 minutes Director Joe Maggio's deliciously nasty comic morsel stars James LeGros as Peter Gray, a self-absorbed celebrity chef who goes off the deep end when pompous but influential food blogger JT Franks (Joshua Leonard) posts a scathing review. After kidnapping JT and shackling him in the basement, Peter administers a series of tortures but soon finds that his victim is far from helpless. What ensues is an epic battle between two towering egos."

I just put McLeod's Daughters on my Instant Queue. I'd never heard of it--thanks for the tip, Jmc! Now if I can understand the Australian accents...... ;-) Growing up in NYC, I used to be good at understanding everybody's accents, but apparently I'm not as skilled as I once was. I found that Veronica Mars is available only on DVD. But if it ever streams, I'll check it out. Also plan to take a look at Doctor Who. I thought that was his name, too. LOL Jodi, I watched the first two episodes of Mad Men last year, and liked it a lot. I bought the first three seasons for my daughter as a Christmas gift, but then Netflix started streaming them. I told her I'd try to sell the unopened box sets.

I admit watching good TV is one of my favorite hobbies, and I look forward to checking out these recommendations. I second Episodes with Matt Lablanc. I also loved Enlightened on HBO with Laura Dern, quirky character and heartwarming. I also enjoyed Jimmy Carter Rock n Roll President on Netflix (I'm a Georgian) and the documentary Crip Camp, a great story about birth of disability rights movement.

Not Netflix, but a new DVD that my DH brought home from the library: "Many Saints of Newark". It's a look at Tony Soprano as a kid, growing up in his mob family. We watched the first half yesterday and will finish it today. Michael GAndolfini plays young Tony, the character that made his late father, James, famous in "The Sopranos". It's harsh, violent and crude, as you'd expect, and more so due to the timing -- the eruption of race riots in Newark. Adding: Don't skip the credits or you'll miss hearing the beautiful song, "Calling All Angels". (I don't care much for the lyrics, but it's a beautiful sentiment and melody, and is beautifully sung.)
