I think those are spammers.

Personally, I don't know how they even find them. I still haven't discovered how to find an old post. 😄

CA Kate z9, I have found that if I'm looking for an old post on Houzz and can't find it, quite often if I go to Garden Web it's there.

And I realize some of these people may be spammers, but I did some of these things when I was new to this forum.

I've noticed this a lot lately also. I can understand "bumping" a post that might be helpful, but many are not!

Just want to point out that the posts I see are not spammers, but seem sincere. This is what I see on my desktop - note the arrows I added:

Those related discussions can be years old. The one about moving the radiator is 13 years old.

It seems Houzz wants people to revive these discussions.

A lot of message boards try to keep the number of threads down and organized by topic. new posters are required to add to existing threads, and get blasted and bullied if they don't. It's good of Lizbeth to point out that we don't do that here,

To find old threads use the search function, and click on ”in cooking” or use Google, There's also the filters over the index Choose one besides ”Latest” and you'll get a walk through the past.

I was going to say the same thing, plllog. This is a chatty forum where we like new threads but many places aren’t like that.

Related story: NYT sent a method to poach eggs, a simple trick that seems to make it about as foolproof as can be hoped for. Thought I’d add it to a poached egg thread but when I searched a half dozen threads showed up. Thought about starting a ”definitive method for poaching eggs” thread to catch the attention of future searchers, but figured that’d be presumptuous and in invitation for argument so I passed.

IMPE, many people can miss those kind of details - me included.

But also, if an old post was just updated, perhaps there's something in there worth discussing?

I only learned to double check those greyed out dates after making the same mistake myself.

It really doesn't bother me. Seems like a non-issue that will work itself out, since such resurrected posts often just slide off the page.

Perhaps, if you want less of it, start more new topics?
