Yeah, the beige house and the beige rocks is just really boring. I think one really big eyesore is the security door, is that something you can replace?

The shutters need to go, but I don't know what you'd do about the canopy bracket thingys? I'm sure those could be updated somehow.

Yes I agree with the security door. In the future I would like to replace it completely. Despite the paint rusting the door itself is in good condition. With very limited funds my most likely option is to have it painted than to have it replaced. The step to the door is painted red which also brings attention to it.

Sherwin williams has a desert/southwest style section that had some great pics of houses and a list of colors used. You can also check out houses in your neighborhood that look similar to yours with color schemes you like.

We live in the Las Vegas but usually visit phoenix every year. There are a lot of great colors but the earth tones look best in the desert IMHO.

Brackets attached to shutters is a first for me. Either one, or both, should go. ( The shutters for sure.)As has been said, desert colors are best in the desert. Stark white is not a good color. I’d paint the brick and security door the color you choose for the house. You can add a xeriscape garden and boulders as budget permits. The addition of cacti will be a big improvement. Berms can be created to give the yard some visual interest. Good luck with your project.

This is very rough, and the paint visualizer must have been very excited with the idea, because it painted part of the front yard out in this plum/eggplant color, too! I tried to clean it up.

The only thing dated about the house is the wavy trim on the gable, which isn't going to maake much of a difference if you remove it. I happen to like it. "Dated" is a term TV shows used to justify large changes. Your house isn't trendy. Most houses aren't.

The beige is a bit boring, but it's nicely done. The real problem is the acres of beige rock. You need more plants. Lots more. No matter how dry your area is, there has to be stuff that can grow there and needs little water. Find it.

I would trim scallops. Some option with painting , numbers, light.

@flopsycat1 Many of the other houses on the street have the same shutter/bracket thing going on. I saw one house that just painted the shutters the same color as their house and it actually looked good. I would love to remove but not sure what added cost it will bring.

I've always liked this for desert landscape. Check with Romabio about painting the brick to match the house color (they can do color matching) and then install a trellis with something native that stays green and has low water needs. I would certainly remove the shutters and replace the awing supports with something that matches whatever you put on the other wall to support the plants. Shutters look weird with the wood coming down into it you need to have white or cream color house

I would plant some bushes over by what appears to me like a garage that has that stone going across the bottom but not up against the stone 3/4 ft away from it
