Sue, congratulations on maintaining what you have decluttered. Maintaining the decluttering and organizing is as difficult as maintaining a weight loss after reaching a goal. I see there are a lot of us here trying to clean, declutter and organize. Glenda, why are you using a new service? Were you unhappy with the one you used to have come in every few months? I've been working like crazy since the holidays are over. Yesterday I took everything out of the main bathroom and cleaned from top to bottom. I installed a new towel rack...it was cheap and easy to do. Today I did the same thing to the master bath. So far I've been maintaining too. I've been trying to do one major job a day plus my regular cleaning. After everything is cleaned I need to paint every room except the master bed and bath. I'm having a difficult time selecting colors though. I'll be glad when that is behind me. I want to have all the inside stuff done before the weather is warm enough to work outside. Linda

Its great to hear that the project is moving forward! Just a few thoughts.......... I think putting the retail shelf by the workstation crowds things too much and does not give the client time to browse. Put the display in the seating area. I would not put a shelf up by the seating area to display retail items. They might get pilfered by clients who think they are "samples". Plus they could get knocked over all the time with clients bumping the shelves. They would get dusty on a shelf too. You want the products to looks fresh. I would put them in a small curio cabinet. One that is wide and not too deep, and has lots of glass, preferably on three sides, with minimal framing so as not to block the view of products. You can pick them up for a song on CL. Paint it black or a color to go with your wall color. Get it in a moderate size so as not to crowd the space with the two chairs. Angle chairs. I would use floating shelves by the work station. The brackets crowd the area. The chandy you chose looks great but maybe a bit heavy for the space being wrought iron or what ever metal it is. Maybe add a few more crystals? You can buy them at craft stores. If you Google 'mini chandelier' or 'kids room chandelier' you can see inexpensive ones that are lightweight in feel and a bit more sparkley. Maybe there is something else out there? Target? I would not do a mirror on the wall behind the workstation next to the bathroom door. Having two mirrors reflect into each other would give it that 'Cream of Wheat' effect. It would be too cluttery and give a tunnel look to the area. I know that mirrors are important to a salon but I have never seen a salon where this is done with mirrors. I would not use wicker baskets. Too Country. Metal would be noisy and plastic looks cheap. How about faux leather baskets? They come in many colors. Or ones covered in fabric that they sell? I've picked them up real cheap for my use at both Ikea and Homegoods. You can use them with or without the lids. Picture it without the newspaper. It comes in white, pink, other colors: I know I had said upholstery is probably out due to hair and dust and you agreed but what about slipcovered chairs? Upholstered chairs would be more comfortable and wouldn't be noisy like metal ones. You can get those dining room parsons chairs for a song on CL and a slipcover for $14.99. They even have 'shortie' ones that show some of the chair leg. You could change them out with the seasons and they can be washed anytime for freshening. Thank you all for your kind words. It's always fun to show our Before & After project pics here. You get inspired and work so hard creating something new. It's nice to be able to share it . . . even if the end results don't end up in your home (LOL)! Oakley: Haha!! I don't think DD is going to want to give up all of her new (old) furniture and decs to move back into a shared, already-furnished bedroom at her sorority house next year when it's finally redone. She'll be a senior then and is already loving her home only a couple of blocks from campus. Although she definitely IS missing having someone else plan, shop for and cook all the meals (LOL)! The wall's of DD's room were already painted that color by the previous tenant and I don't have a clue what the brand name or color of it is. Sorry. Is your son going to OU? I agree, decorating a son's place is (usually) a lot less fun than decorating a daughter's. My own son's place made me cringe during his six years at OU! Arcy: I LOVE your DD's headboard. How beautiful!!! The fabric is wonderful and looks beautiful with that dark wood. This is a fun age for our daughters, isn't it? Jake: that sounds a lot like my son's rooms when he was in college. Yaya: yes, it drove me to distraction not to be able to do much of anything while my hands were healing. Although I've developed significant arthritis in both hands as a result of the surgery, the fracture and the subsequent long immobilization periods, I love being able to work with them again! Patty: DD was seven? My goodness, it HAS been a long time, hasn't it? Her desk color? Yes, It wouldn't have been my choice, but she does love it and, yes, she can paint it again someday if the mood strikes her. (Shudder) That desk (and all of it's drawers and cubbies) was very tedious and hard to paint. I wouldn't want to do that one again ever! What fun to be able to do your GD's bedroom! You'll have to share that with us when you finish it. Well, thank you all again for allowing me to share my Summer's decorating projects. DH & I have just started redoing his study yesterday. We started our late fall early winter with taking down about 5 black walnut trees, cutting them up and stacking them for seasoning. We are trying to clear the back .25 acres of our land to get better visual and get some sun to shine through there. We were doing good until the snow and cold weather hit. Now that's on hold until snow clears. I'm doing indoor projects now, organizing, cleaning, decluttering etc. Next month I'll clean the carpets and we're getting a dumpster to rid ourselves of anything we haven't used in 1 year, can't wait to get that done. In late March early April we will build two 4 x 16 beds that will be used for veggies. I had 8 smaller ones in the lower garden area but they have become obsolete. Our neighbor has planted black walnut trees and every bit of juglone travels down hill to my beds. Killed 16 heirloom tomatoes last year and nothing else really did that well. We will make those beds into perrenial beds and the beds far enough away from the juglone river will be for blueberry bushes and rhubarb. For now I'm bored. I am thinking about taking up crocheting. I'd like to learn to make small gifts for family and friends. I'm doing some research on where to start with that. If I don't find something to do I'll drive hubby crazy.
