Help with winter outdoor project . . . (decorating hanging lantern)

Where I live, not very many projects to do in the winter, but I have one . . . but I'm struggling with it.

I have a post that has a hanger for the hose on one side, and a plant hanger on the other. Hose is in winter storage and no plants possible. So it looks kind of empty, considering the plant hanger is a decorative cast iron one . . . last year I had a greenery arrangement in a pot hanging there until spring. I made it myself out of some shrub clippings I had to do around the house. I have more greenery this year . . . so I'd like to do a candle lantern decorated with greenery. I have some battery powered candles in storage just taking up space, and I saw a possible metal lantern on sale in a local store, but I can't get my head around how to decorate it by attaching greens. There's nothing to attach them to . . .

Anyone ever seen a clever project like this or done one? I have spruce, arborvitae and juniper cuttings to use. Also some red bows from past years' wreaths.
