A subject near and dear to my heart. I must have pulled up a hundred yards of morning glory roots and sprayed a couple of gallons of Roundup, to no effect. Glyphosate will kill the foliage, but the concentrations of it in ordinary Roundup just seem to stimulate the root systems (individual underground runners, half again as thick as a pencil, can be well over 20 ft long.) The Roundup you buy by the gallon off the shelf at Home Depot contains 2% glyphosate. You can get a more concentrated form which contains 48% glyphosate. If you research this a bit, you will come across suggestions that you soak the root end of morning glory in this Satan water for an extended period. My battle plan (soon as I get around to it) is to cut and scrape a root end, tie a large cotton swab around it, drench it with the 48% solution, and seal it off with a piece of plastic and a rubber band. Oh, and it also springs up all over the place through seeding.

Ben, You are definitely on the right track. Yes it is a Butia and the yellowing is an indicator of a deficiency . The application of a full spectrum palm-specific will make all the difference.. The fertilizer will not fix the color of the existing fronds but will fully solve the yellowing on all new growth. As SecretSquirrel007 pointed out, the you can apply the fertilizer now without any problem. Palm growth is controlled by temperature not food and as such the fertilizer will be access when the warm spring weather arrives. We have been using the Lutz Palm Tree Spikes for over ten years and they are almost magic. Also, once the NUTRIENTproblem had been resolved the palm will likely not need subsequent feeding as palms translocate the nutrients from older fronds to new fronds. Hard to say but could be some sort of mildew disease. It's pretty common in cukes. They like their soil consistently moist, but not too wet, and if it either dries out or is soaking wet for too long they tend to sulk and get sickly. If you're in the hot parts of NV keeping consistent soil moisture can be a challenge. A layer of mulch might help. Also keep an eye out for cucumbers because if you leave them on the vine too long the plant will stall in production. And if you don't have a good pollinator population around you may want to try to hand pollinate and see if that increases your production. There are a lot of discussions about cukes on the Vegetable Gardening forum, which is quite a bit more active than this one. Just make sure to mention your general location when you post a question because that can help a lot to narrow down the potential problems and get to a solution faster.

I have something similar in my sewing room, although mine is wider and 9’ high. I got a crazy high estimate from a closet place, plus they were going to waste a lot of space using their standard pieces. Instead, I got some double track (heavy duty) shelf standards (kv or similar), two on each end and 12” heavy duty brackets. I found a guy to make shelves to go the width of the ends and fit behind the door casings. I can adjust them as needed. All my fabric is stored there. I had him build an extra u-shaped shelf around the top, where I store bins of lace and embroidery stuff, as well as extra pillows and blankets. I need a step ladder to access the high shelf, but that was always going to be the case with 9’ ceilings. This has proven to be a great system, at a fraction of the cost.
