Help needed! Which farmhouse apron sink to choose?

Hi all!

I’ve been scouring the internet for which sink to choose and the more info I find the less decisive I become (and I’m already very indecisive to begin with!)
I am looking at the Ruvati 33 x 20 inch (RVL2300WH) or the Latoscana (LFS3318W)
The Ruvati sink has a 1inch lip and a lifetime limited warranty whereas the Latoscana one has a 1 3/8 inch lip but its warranty is limited to 3 years.

What would you choose? The thicker sink or the lifetime warranty?

I’ve looked into sinkology and am open to it as well.

I’ve also looked into a Ruvati granite/composite sink (but I feel like I would miss the shine of a fireclay sink 🙈, however if you own it feel free to let me know your thoughts on it⬇️)

I know the Kohler cast iron sink is a favorite, but I’m not sure our budget would allow to splurge that much tbh.

If you have a fireclay sink that you swear by or have experience with customer service for those companies please share your knowledge with me.

None of the above. The Kohler Whitehaven slipcover sink eliminates the thousands of dollars in headaches that fireclay farm sinks cost you. It looks good, simplifies installation, and won’t break and craze, leading to counter replacement or leaks into your sink cabinet. The $600-1K younsave in extra installation costs from fireclay more than pays for the ”price difference”. If your cabinet installer doesn’t charge big extra for fireclay, he is an inexperienced fool that shouldn’t be doing any of your cabinet install.

I have a Whitehaus fireclay and love it. No problems with it. I have the SS grid on the bottom which protects it from chips and scratches.

Bump - I am in a world of hurry and sure could use some help. In one day last week, my dryer stopped working, the hot water heater quit and the painter who was hired to paint my cabinets, remove wallpaper and paint - sold his company and stopped returning my calls. The kitchen ceiling is already down and I have about 2 weeks to get some things done. Which may drive some decisions...... I started with only a small cosmetic update - and you may identify with me that as we've gotten into it, it's grown. Anyway, IF I can decide on a farmhouse sink and could get delivery in about 2 weeks, I would love to have one. I have been reading this website for a couple of yrs and I know about lead times, but I'm just hoping someone could answer one question at least today. If I have my laminate countertop cut for a 33 x 22" sink which I have now, can I swap it for another sink later? I will have to live with top mount - no other choice at this late date. Any guidance would be seriously appreciated. By the way - here's what happened last week... - the kitchen designer showed up and found me a painter inside of 20 minutes who came over an hour later and bid $600 less on the job than the first guy, the hot water heater had the vacuum hose knocked off from a kid standing a piece of wood next to it and falling over - so fixed in literally 1 minute and the heating Co didn't charge me for stopping by, and mysteriously, the dryer is still limping along which is good because I really don't have time for it right now. I felt like I had the Divine Hand handling it all because I didn't even freak with 4 different trucks in the driveway and total chaos.

I know Insinkertor Evolution has a compact model (which I have two of) which is shorter. It is a smaller diameter. Are you pulling your sink really far forward or is the hole in the sink in the front because I have never heard of this situation before, I have an apron front sink that is 1.25 inches forward and there is at least 6 inches till the compactor when I open the doors.

Do you have to do a drop in? I would do an undermount, much nicer look. I use Le Creuset and other cast iron all the time, my SS sink came with a grid at the bottom, it's the best!! It really protects the sink from dishes and cookware. I had a farm sink previously and liked that one also, this time I wanted a more contemporary look and opted for a large SS undermount.

I'm not a fireclay fan. If it chips, you're dead; no repair is possible. You can chip a Whitehaven. If you keep white-out over the chip, you may cover the exposed cast iron and slow its inevitable rusting and self-destruction.

I'd suggest you look at an Elkay Quartz Luxe sink. The color goes all the way through so small chips and gouges aren't catastrophic. It is repairable and difficult to scratch

. It isn't as shiny as the alternatives.

If you're getting new cabinets, you can get the full apron sink; here's the short apron version.

Why is that your only 'design' choice? ugg they are sooo not appropriate in many kitchens. Keep looking there are many options out there!!!
