I would say neither, they are too small volume-wise.

Do you have a dining area that is adjacent and visible? If so the light fixtures in both areas should be complementary.

I like a fixture that has glass or is open looking.

The manufacturer Corbett has some marvelous contemporary and modern light fixtures.

I would not choose a fixture that is mostly black unless it was constructed in a way that was very airy and open looking.

You didn't ask, but your kitchen would be vastly improved by a molding at the top of cour cabinets so you didn't have that open space.

That corner under the window can be used for a buffet, or small attractive desk, because clearly, you need one! An when company comes, you can put a waterproof table pad (you can purchase them everywhere) and tablecloth over it and use it as a buffet.

You can either remove the current light and replace it, or remove it totally and not replace it and use a desk lamp.

If the dining table is slid opposite the island or closer to the island, then you need a light fixture over it and an electrician can put one where ever you want.

Just because you have a fixture out there in the corner doesn't mean that's where it is appropriate there in that tiny corner wedged against the column.

if you do use the ones above I would go with the darker finish not the stainless

just an FYI, the pendants you have there now are Italian called Millefleur, they are dated but they are hand blown, probably cost 300$ each at the time of purchase. They are a bit under-scaled as well. here is a mock up of how your choice may look, its not terrible, but im not in love lol.

I failed to mention we do have a formal dining room opposite the kitchen with a coffee bar inbetween. You are right, maybe we don't even need to include a breakfast table/dining table in that corner because I agree it is an awkward spot/location with the pillar there.

The only odd thing is that you can see the breakfast nook/window area from the front door when you first walk in. Maybe a buffet area is best.

I would do the satin nickel if the counters are staying black. I am a non-jewelry wearer and am not drawn to the voluminous statement pendants either.
