Quartzite and Cloe backsplash

Originally we were leaving towards a quartz countertop and the white cloe subway tile. However, we have now seen two different quartzite pieces at our local MSI, mercury gray and Denali, that we are deciding between. My question is if anyone has done a quartzite counter and the cloe backsplash? Since the counter has a lot more movement with quartzite I'm wondering if the cloe tile will still work or if we need something more matte and one color. Thanks!

Hi, Can you post pictures of the quartzite you are looking at? You should also post pictures of the kitchen including cabinet colour, floor colour, lighting, appliance colour, etc.

The backsplash is generally the very last thing you choose once all the other elements are decided and the whole look needs to be cohesive, not just the counters with the backsplash.

If you are looking for inspiration you could search pictures (Houzz as well as Pinterest) of similar quartzite and see what choices were put in place for backsplash with them.

There are a lot of threads here on Houzz about quartzite so a review of some of them will likely yield good results.

I was just in a friend's new house yesterday. She has Taj Mahal leathered quartzite with Cloe tile and it looks amazing. We're redoing our kitchen so I've been shopping for quartzite for months, and I'll tell you that they vary in color so much. So I think you'll want to take some tile samples shopping with you to see which shade goes with your stone. I googled both of the ones you're looking at and images range from not busy to super busy. Do you have a pic of your particular stones?

Thanks everyone! We're going with the glass tile, and definitely appreciate all the advice and feedback. Anna & Breezy - ya, we weren't sure that the color was right, but it actually blends a lot more now that we have the island in (it brings more crisp white to the room). Isabel - Thanks! I know people here keep saying that Taj Mahal needs to be the "only star" and you have to use a plain backsplash ... but I think most of those people do not have TM installed in their house! I'm on my second kitchen with TM and from most angles a few feet away, it just appears as a beige counter! Yes, you need to be careful what you pair it with, but plain white tile isn't the only tile that works with it.

My daughter did the 5” square format tiles in white, staggered, in her new kitchen. It looks very nice! We are remodeling our kitchen currently and plan to use the same tile and layout. It’s very pretty with just enough variation to provide interest but also simple enough to be neutral without being boring.
