very large and fragrant repeat climbers
Comments (9)Westerland is most definitely unique and fragrant. Not sure about overall size though. The blooms are large. White Dawn gets fairly large and has a bit of a fragrance. New Dawn and Awakening are large climbers that have a decent fragrance. Awakening is stronger than New Dawn's from what I've heard. Westerland is on the left in the photo below. http://www.helpmefind.com/plant/l.php?l=21.37348...See MoreNeed Advice on Loud Repeating Healthy Climber
Comments (18)Well, folks...before I saw all these suggestions, I moved William Allen Richardson to the trellis... I hope he does well there. I will checkout the other suggestions and probably find places for all of them. Royal Sunset is gorgeous. I couldn't find Paname on HMF...I tried two Crepuscules last fall, but they didn't recover from the Easter freeze...I will have this rose one day! Joseph's Coat is a BS magnet for me...but gorgeous. I've got two Cecile Brunners...one climbing a tree and another covering a shed...or at least each is starting to do its job. I've got Alexandre Girault, and it is wonderful. Mine is being trained up a tree. I may need to move my Westerland to a place where it will get watered regularly. I wonder whether the plum trellis can accomodate both William Allen Richardson AND Westerland.... that may be an idea. Westerland is struggling without supplemental water. Autumn Sunset is a beauty too and seems to be doing okay in my rose tunnel, so I don't wanna move that rose. Thanks, Everyone! Robert...See MoreDisease Free White Climber
Comments (37)I hesitate to make suggestions since I'm probably 3000 miles away as the crow flies...however, these three have thrived here: Lamarque..some mildew but less this past summer than the year before. Nice bush shape bloom size 3". Big Mac...Madam Alfred Carrier..a beast. mine is 3 tears old. She is trimmed often. She is 10' tall, by 6' deep by 8' wide. Her scent wafts here. White/light petal pink caste. 3" blooms. Maybe 10% mildew late season. cl. Devonensis..vigerous..no disease..thats right no BS here in the PNW..here its planted in a protected area ofthe garden as she is somewhat tender. blooms 4-5". White-creme coloring. She would thrive if she were pegged. Foliage green and lush to the ground. I received 2 of these as mystery roses from Rogue Nursery. Janet Inada graciously identified them when we visited there last summer. Hope that helps...looking at your lovely garden pics I think that Devonensis would be lovely. Let us know wha you choose. Comments (41)Ok. I figured I better get QS so went to Chamblees site where I still had a couple on my wishlist. Their roses are now twice the price with a set shipping price., but still, I never paid double the rose to ship. Now I'm kicking myself because they are the only ones to carry a few I wanted and I can't really afford to buy them. Is it already under new ownership or management? Edit: I just called and they have been bought so new prices and policy. At least they are keeping it as a nursery....See Moredianela7analabama
