Holiday bargains.
Comments (4)No, they are not Citrus--maybe will post some later. But thought you might like to look at some other flowers. These guys are a bit confused. Normally, this variety has bloomed in March into early April. I found them blooming this morning. I have to plant the Camellia japonica quite near the house as otherwise the deer will eat them (flowers and leaves--remember they are in the tea family). There is another bank of Camelia japonica on the eastern side of the house. They are easy to take care of and like our Citrus, also prefer acid soil.--They also should have some shade from the strongest sun (summer AND WINTER). Comments (19)I found almost all of these (esp. in part 2) to be quite lovely but I do understand that we all see things in a different light. Me being relatively new to daylilies I gulped at the thought of them being discarded. Hopefully they went to new homes? (If not I'll give you my address for next time...:). I haven't been growing daylilies long enough to be tired of any of them yet and seem to love just about all of them, short scapes and all. BTW, my Lavender Heartthrob has scapes much taller than 22" and my Rapid Eye Movement had to be divided after just one season it was so robust. So sometimes it could be just the difference in gardens/climate I guess. I 'get' where you're coming from though about tastes changing or not being able to put up with certain faults. I am that way with roses. I was such a rose fanatic for so many years that at the beginning I couldn't fathom shovelpruning a rose, ever. Now about 100 of them have gone, mostly because the japanese beetles are a plague here but some went because they weren't vigorous or had bad foliage. I enjoy your blogs a lot, especially the photos. And that kitty is a DARLING. What a beautiful face he has! Celeste...See MoreWANTED: Wahoo! I Got One, I Got One...
Comments (52)I'll have to look for that olive oil - maybe they will have it at Surfas. I'll bet it's quite tasty! Diana did a great job researching on you - congratulations on having her as a partner! I'll have to check out Lucques Restaurant some time when I'm on Melrose - they're having "dia de los muertos" this Sunday. I'll be interested to see what recipe you try first. The print goes really well in your house--the framing looks very elegant. Lars...See MoreHoliday Bargain Shopping
Comments (4)Ann, funny you should mention Bath & Body Works. I ran in there tonight, hoping to find a good sale. NOPE! I guess it's still a bit too early. That's okay, I'll wait! I got those Holiday hand soap pumps last year for an incredible deal and they made great gifts. I dressed them up by wrapping them in cute cellophane gift bags and ribbon. I stock up on their hand soap when it goes on sale. It's the best! Sheryl...See More- 4 years ago
