10 Foot Island - 2 or 3 Pendants?
Comments (20)Great suggestions and inspiration for me. Feel free to chime in on my dilemma, 10‘3“ long island, new house, three pendant rough-ins, 32-inch centers. Initially I thought I should move the rough-ins to 34 to 36, but the more I think and obsess about pendant size and spacing, 32 may be OK. I Found a 16” x 19.75” height, round pendant I ordered it and we’ll see what it looks like in the space since I’ve tried the paper plates and balloons and I still have a hard time visualizing. Here is what I’m considering. Brandywine Collection 3-Light Farmhouse Sphere Pendant Light Silver Ridge....See Morecabinet height-small kitchen-10 foot ceilings
Comments (9)I had a teeny old kitchen (about 6-9) with 9.5 foot ceiling and I and went to the top with the cabinets on one wall, with a small crown molding to take up the irregularities. The cabinets were (trendy ahead of their time) not the same depth because I needed to allow for a door, so there was a shallow bank breaking up the wall. It did NOT look like a tunnel or the bottom of a pit, and being able to stash seldom used items in the top of the cabinets was marvelous. It was also cheaper than having a soffit built, and prevented the dust-catcher that cabinet tops create....See Moreplease help small kitchen 10 foot ceilings
Comments (13)Amy-- Unfortuntately the idea of bringing down our ceiling does not work due to architectural constriants we have (stairs going upstairs run thru our kitchen) we can't lower the ceiling or soffit at all. When I get home, I will post some pictures of our kitchen as it is now "before" so you can see the size & layout constraints. Florantha, Cpartist, Sabjimata thanks for your posts & opinions as well. Yes, I agree & really like the stacked look & my kitchen can handle stacked, but question will be how high to stack & whether going to ceiling will overwhelm my space or not. If they were 9 feet it would be no question....See MoreIs a 10 foot shower too long?
Comments (27)I just read through all the comments above and it seems that everyone is giving you good advice on the best size for a one person shower. But you asked about a 2-person shower. My shower is 7 by 3.5 with the shower head on the far, short wall and the door opening on the opposite end of one of the long walls, which reduces that particular wall to 54 inches plus the opening (hand held is on this short wall). I just stood in the shower next to the short wall opposite the other short wall that has the shower head. Nope. I would not want to shower with shower heads on opposite walls. Too squishy. Having said that, ours was planned as a two person shower and it works quite well since we have the extra hand held on a side wall. So, if you have your heart set on a two person shower and want the shower heads on opposite walls, your proposed size might be right. I would suggest you block out an area of 10 x 4 and go through the motions of showering with your wife and see how it all works. I have no comment on whether or not a large shower is cold. We live in a warm climate and don't have a door on our shower and have never been cold. So you will need to take that into consideration when you read my comments. As far a cleaning, the last person to shower gets to squeegee and the far end of the shower never gets wet so it does need periodic dusting. And drainage is no problem. Even with two shower heads going....See Morelucky998877
