Its difficult to answer your question without knowing if the doors will be paneled or flush. Hardboard is a thin High Density Fiberboard made of wood sawdust and pulp with plastic resin under heat and pressure. Thin sheets of hardboard can be used as the facing for hollow core and solid core flush type doors and can also be molded in the press to make hollow core paneled doors. If this moulded sheet can be used with a solid core I have yet to see it. Premium Medium Density Fiberboard (often called "composite") is fabricated in thicker panels and can as thick as a door so it can be machined and/or assembled as solid elements to create a solid paneled door or a solid flush door. My advice is to avoid any kind of moulded door and verify what material is being specified as hardboard or composite.

I was thinking it could be painted too, just hoping we could avoid that step haha. I'm getting ready to build next spring and I've only read good things about Everlast. Seems to be used mostly on the east coast. The only issue is they do not offer a shingle version which I need. I would like to use the same brand on this house that has shiplap, shingle and board and batten siding for color match purposes. I've also read good things about NuCedar (shingle siding) and Celect. Both of those products are cellular PVC with a baked on paint. There are way too many threads on Houzz regarding how bad the cement board products are. They seem very very dependent on perfect installation and what climate they are used in. I'm in Michigan so I am not messing with a product that likes to absorb water if not perfectly primed.
