Flooring Design Dilemma

Replace my carpet with luxury vinyl plank flooring

My house is covered with wood flooring, but my bedroom has carpet. I'm considering replacing the carpet with luxury vinyl plank flooring. Design wise, is it ok to do that?
Do you think the flooring in this link would go look ok next to my dark wood flooring?

We have maple hardwood in our master bedroom. It was there when we bought the house, and had it refinished with all the rest of the hardwood. Paid $$$ for a large area rug (100 oz/sq yd. carpet bound) to keep it quiet. If I had it to do over, would just have laid wall to wall carpet.

If you have real wood floors I wouldn't install fake wood. Go with real wood or carpet but not vinyl.

I have a friend who did this floor in her house. I am a flooring person and had to bend down and look and touch to tell it was not real. Great stuff. I like #1 best. Contrasts the best with the cabinets and seems to blend best with the doors and trim. It might make the space seem lighter. As lots of wood can darken areas somewhat. #3 is second choice as I like it better with every thing BUT your cabinets. It's ok with cabs as it has some dark areas and is a 'louder' sample. But seems more contemporary. I actually like it the best of the samples by itself. Just not with your cabs as well. Do not like any of the others. Not enough contrast with the other woodwork especially cabinets. #5 looks the most dated and unreal. Others seem too dark. I would keep the doors wood stained as they are but paint the trim. It looks like it needs sprucing up and with all other finishes changed will look more like it needs it. I'm doing stained doors and painted trim in our new house but realize others may not care for the look. I do like the vinyl planks though.

thank you for the replies. sorry I wasn't very clear. we are taking out all existing flooring. Want to replace with lvp (wood) everywhere except kitchen and guest bath. considering lvt (tile look) for kitchen and bath. this is picture of cabinets etc in kitchen. and living room. walls are different color now. shades of green koi pond and a darker green for accent. would like to stay light to med on the lvp wood for flooring. nothing too dark and will blend door, cabinets etc. don't really want wood look in kitchen as I think it will be too much with cabinets, thus considering a lvt light in color .. I hope this helps explain my dilemma.

Plot twist- Our youngest child has been struggling with allergies. Yesterday, her Dr suggested it is most likely the carpet. This is a new issue as our last space had carpet but she never struggled to this point. The children currently sleep in a triple bunk bed and she sleeps closest to floor. We had a few estimates done to replace carpet for upstairs bedrooms (3) all came out to over $1000. (One company flat out told us the carpet was newer but poor quality, not properly cared for & he could tell pets were an issue.) We ended up deciding on Waterproof laminate Flooring from a local flooring liquidation store. We will be using it on the entire third floor. We were able to secure a medium grade wood look with underlayment. We also purchased underlayment to help with noise reduction. I kiltzed/treated the subfloor and it has been airing out. We purchased a open box floor cutter and spent a total of $498 for the Entire floor . and supplies. (My husbands military discount really helped) We plan to install ourselves. I know it's not many people's first choice but, it seems to be the best financial option for us at this time. I will attach photos of the flooring. Instead of sulking I am thrilled our children will have clean flooring and am looking into some reasonable area rugs. We are using some of the money we saved on flooring to head start our upstairs flooring fund & a portion to buy the kids warm area rugs & bedroom shoes. :) Thank you all for your valuable feedback, my husband now asks me lol “What did your internet friends say?”

I hate wall to wall carpet but even more fake wood next to real so if you can't go real wood I guess do the carpet . Have you even tried to find out hoew much to match the other hardwood?

We have hardwood and only kept the carpeting on stairs, upper hallway and bedrooms for our older dog’s safety. We recently replaced with a high quality (makes a big difference) LVP and chose as close in color/width/finish as possible and if you are not really looking, you don’t notice the difference visually. My suggestion to match as best you can, from a resale perspective also. Here’s a picture of stained hardwood stairs with a well matched LVP with a nice transition.

In my opinion, much better choice than going with carpet. You cod also consider engineered hardwood.

I'm with the posters who are not for LVP in one room with hardwood elsewhere. LVP sounds different when you walk on it. It's hard for me to believe that no one would be able to tell the difference between it and real wood flooring. I have LVP in my basement which I think is a good application for it. I would not put it on my main floor. The least expensive option is probably to get new carpet. Carpet is nice in a bedroom and probably will last ten years in that environment.

Since you're only doing one room maybe real wood wouldn't be cost prohibitive either if that's really what you want. A good flooring company can match your existing wood floors, but sometimes you have to buy unfinished and have it finished on site so they can match the color.

Thanks for everyone's unanimous feedback. You've changed my mind; I'll go with wood. The wood throughout my house is dark. I'm thinking of putting light-colored wood in my bedroom. Thoughts on that?
