Have you ever forfeited a deposit on furniture?

Not a dilemma, but a topic for discussion -- although maybe it is a dilemma since there's a question.

I have a beautiful wood desk I've had for a few years, and I had been eyeing the matching file cabinet at the furniture store to replace the heavy fireproof 2-drawer I was using for, oh, say 20-ish years. So I decided to finally order the wood file cabinet. Then I had to clean out the old one to move it when the floors were re-done and when all the stuff I was hanging onto was gone I realized I don't need a file cabinet, I can easily fit what's left in the desk -- ugh why didn't I consider that before I ordered the new one!! I put about $200 down, and it's still a few months before it's due in, so my choice is to cancel/refuse delivery and eat the $200 or keep it and pay the balance of $600 for something I don't need at all. What to do, what to do.... what would you do?

ETA: The old cabinet is long gone -- put it out at the street and someone picked it up.
