Comments (3)avignon-- If you're looking into rectified porcelain (In Crossville, that would be their Empire Series), you want a tight grout joint-- standard is 1/16". As for the others, I'll tell you right now-- Porcelanosa will be more expensive. ALOT more expensive. They're one of the top shelf manufacturers in the world. As for Laufen, that you might find for a good price. Here's a shower I did with their travertine lookalike rectified tile: One other thing to think about. I don't know just how close you want to be, but the tile in the next picture is a very run of the mill stock tile from Daltile. It's not even porcelain-- just a standard glazed ceramic tile, which means you'd need to use a larger grout joint (I usually use a 3/16" joint with this tile)but for glazed tile, it's one of the best travertine lookalikes I've seen yet. In fact, I liked it SO much, that I used the 18x18 version in my own bath in the apartment I just moved out of (otherwise, I'd show you pics!): That's Daltile's Salerno Series SL83...See MorePlease help newbie! -- To Marble or not to Marble.
Comments (4)Marble is a soft stone, I have it in my master bath. Looks great BUT its a master bath and doesn't get nearly as much traffic as your kitchen and living area. Go porcelain. Slightly less money but much easier to maintain and durability is superior. My 2 cents...See Morelooking for: porcelain tile that looks like white marble
Comments (7)An in person visit is still the best way to find what you need. We do not sell online, only in store. Most contractors only purchase things that they can see, feel, and judge their quality. We only sell first quality goods, which many internet sites do not. Yes, I'm a ProSource employee, but not on the flooring side. I'm a KD at one of the stores. Almost any real in person flooring store can get you loads of choices that an internet presence that concentrates on closeouts and second quality cannot. Comments (13)Jan, maybe I am using the term border inaccurately? The way my walls and vanities flow, the "border" I speak of will serve as a backsplash, continue (same wall) to the tub area, freestanding, and hence the wainscot height (with wall tile under it). That area flows to the shower with 45 degree angles (3 windows), where I want to continue the "border" and tiles. The tile does NOT look like it goes with the slab in my above pics, but it does very well, as dos the hex tile. Think your underlying idea is shower and floors should match? Or maybe I AM using the term border correctly, in which case you don't like. :-) If so, trim ideas? TY!...See MoreTa Se
