What do you use for bath rugs?
Comments (14)i have a wool area rug in front of my tub and then a plain one in chocolate brown that goes well withthe colors in front of my vanity. I have a few of the hotel style thick bath mats that get washed a few times a week foor when we bathe that get put down in fron of the shower or over the wool rug to step on. they get put over the side of the tub or towel bar to dry. They have them at Target for a decent price. My kids use their hand towels. We always have a surplus of them for some reason? I think it is because they wear less than bath and washcloths. ? I don't know why?...See MoreFinally - Floors In! - What kind of rugs in kitchen
Comments (20)Wow, I was thrilled to find this thread. We have just refinished our hardwood floors, and after the cost and what we went through to get them refinished, I am determined to keep them looking new! We raised 3 boys on them and they were pretty beat up, particularly in front of the refrigerator with water damage. Now, I am contemplating what, if any, rug I might place in the kitchen. I'm thinking a runner at the sink/prep area, and a 2x3 in front of the fridge. I'm interested in the comment by one that the floor/finish is not showing wear and tear after 7 years - I would hope for that! If I get a rug, I want something easy to clean/throw in the wash or hose off. Has anyone used polypropylene on hardwood? Crate & Barrel has some indoor/outdoor rugs made of that in a neutral color, I just want to be certain that product wouldn't scratch the floor. I tend to be an all natural gal though, cotton and wool. I would prefer to have nothing, if I felt certain the prep area wouldn't show wear. I'm thinking all cotton, with no pad or backing, is a good choice to try, throw in the wash, and if I don't like it I'll go back to nothing. I wanted to comment on rugs placed for comfort - I have always worn house shoes with great support for long hours in the kitchen, which are far better than any rug/gel rug can provide. Back in the day it was Birkenstocks, but a few years ago I discovered Fit Flops, and they are the best!! Got that cushy support under your feet with every step. :-)...See MoreWhat kind of rug do you have in front of your sink?
Comments (4)That one looks really great, I agree. I have really bad knees so I have a Chef's Gelmat in front of my sink and in front of my stove as well. It is the only thing that enables me to stand for any length of time. It is amazing, but I agree it doesn't look nearly as nice....See MoreFlokati/shag runner rug for a long hallway-- what do you think?
Comments (18)You've gotten all the choices so far. I can only add one more thing. Can you become very, very good friends with your neighbor? Somehow if she knows you and your cat, the noise won't be as disturbing. I can't imagine your cat running for hours on end. Also, if you get to know your neighbor, you too can be more considerate of distracting your cat when you know your neighbor is still sleeping, or having friends over etc. She too will understand the need for your cat to play, at least sometimes. We have noisy side neighbors. My neighborhood is turning over to young families which is fine. And, I don't mind hearing kids shout while they play. But….it is the dad that is the issue. They play soccer I think and if a kids doesn't hit a goal the dad yells OOOOOOOOooooooo. But in a friendly way, like you almost got it! One day, this went on for two hours. I timed it. There is nothing we can do, and luckily we have breaks when they are not in the yard. It just shows you how one family's enjoyment can greatly be affected.by another....See Moresocks
