Question for the Brain Gamers

Since the Brain Game generally takes up some time, do you want me to put it on hold for the next couple of weeks, or are you okay with doing them?

I don't want to have anyone frustrated, or no time to do them, if they enjoy doing them.

It's completely in your court. :-)

I was just thinking about this, jasdip. But, with gatherings coming up, it could be fun to do. Could you maybe post one, one of the big ones, on Dec 23, to work on with others over the weekend? I printed an old one off and when we had family over we did it together. (I had to very careful not to give away the ones I could remember the answers to!)

I had been thinking about it as well. I have the time but I'm ready for Christmas. And for us, it's a pretty quiet time.

Jasdip, it doesn't matter for me.

Hi, Kate, Yeah, just a game. I was a bit tongue in cheek with my question, because it is often said that "only lefties are in their right minds", meaning that if you are right handed you are left brained and vice versa. In my case, that is not so. I expect there are bunches of us that challenge the old adage. I went brain dead over the winter- veggies/annuals question

I only wintersow lettuce and spinich usually, of those I just wintersow them fairly early, late feb , early march is fine, they are sprouted already. Direct Sow, I only do peas now. I will do the rest of the veggies, late may. Between the third and forth weeks. (for me green beans(5 diffrent types typically, sometimes more), cukes, zuchinni, pumpkins (for kids). None of them will germinate too much earlier anyways. I do all my direct sown types (i wintersow zinnia but say, something like cosmos, I never bother, direct sow those all the time) I will do cosmos around may 1st to may 10th.

I read the title of this thread many times today...it always registered as Brian Hiccup, not brain hiccup. I thought for sure he was someone with a new technique for strip piecing! The name for cutting apart and resewing strip pieced strata in a different format is Seminole Piecing, or at least I think that's what it's called. If your individual pieces are cut 2.5 inches wide, each strip (except the outside two) should measure 2 inches when the block is complete. Have you checked that measurement? Cutting on the crosswise grain should not make a big difference if you are reasonably careful. What would make a difference is if your cuts are not on true grain. That would give you two bias-like edges on each strip and that stretch factor can add up fast. Just a thought.

I have an odd relationship with games-- every once in a blue moon I'll play a game obsessively for a 1-3 days and then I wouldn't play a thing for a year or two. I really dislike the ones that feel juvenile-- but thanks to this thread, I am now playing Pepper Panic. I tried CC.. didnt love it.. moved on to Pepper Panic and well.. "my name is Funky and I am a pepper addict!" I'll soon give it up though-- I am going to bed later, letting laundry sit longer, cooking more simple meals. I hate when I let a game affect my life!

bpath, the Christmas idea is a great one!

We always play goofy games on Christmas. We have one where you wear disposable mouth spreaders and you have to guess what your partner is trying to say. We could use some of Jasdip’s puzzles.🙂

It's not that hectic here over the holiday but I do like the 16 part puzzles better than the last grouping. I found it hard to read the print in those.

Good news! I have a Christmas version!! It's the 16-pce ones which will be good for easing newcomers into the game.

Plus I have a big one. I'll send both on Thursday! Yippeee!

Either way is O K with me.

If they're there - those who have a quiet Christmas (maybe including recently bereaved) can enjoy them should they so choose ...

... and those who are busy during the holidays may find them interesting in the dog days of January.

Assuming that they have the willpower to avoid looking at the answers till they've given the challenges a real try: their choice, whichever.
