The space is on the small side, so I would try to get one in a color similar to the lighter color in the rug to the right of the sofa. Check Wayfair - lots of reasonably-priced rugs. A couple of other tweaks for your room: please lower your art above the sofa about 4-5 inches, and bring the two pieces on the sides closer to the center. Ditto the piece above the cabinet. It is hung much too high - move it down so that the bottom overlaps the taller candle.

agentanna, check Craigslist (estate/yard sales) for vintage furniture since you can get it reupholstered. that's a great option since the vintage sofas were made much better than what you are looking for in your price range. I've sold furniture on Chairish. they take almost 20% commission so sellers tend to mark up their items to offset that take. Plus, often times shipping isn't included in the sale price. Also, you may want to do the legwork and find your own upholstery (after you're told on much you will need). Upholsterers charge quite a bit more if you just choose the fabrics from their books. I did this w/my sofa. found out how much I needed and ordered online. was half as much as what he would have charged. have them change the foam cushions to something firmer and thicker if needed.

Check out Bassett on-line or in-store. They have a large selection. I ran into a couple who were in the process of buying one in the store and they told me they had looked absolutely everywhere and this was the best quality, style, price. I sent my son and daughter-in-law, who had also been looking everywhere, and they came to the same conclusion and purchased theirs at Bassett, and have been very happy. They have two small children who have tested their sofa thoroughly and it has held up!

I've considered those because they're so comfy and charming looking but I was hoping to find a more modern style, even a current take on mid-century, but they all have such terrible reviews. I think I will consider the Ektorp because there's no use in buying something that immediately falls apart or looks cheap and feels wobbly. Thank you.
