Area Rug for Living Room; Right Size (Photos)?
Comments (13)I really, really dislike a rug that doesn't fit under the legs of major seating pieces - it's OK if you have an occasional chair that just doesn't fit into the area that well. I want my FEET on the rug - definitely not half-way between table and sofa. I think 8x10 will be perfect, but if an 8x10 covers too much floor space, take a look at 6x9. Overstock has a great selection of 6x9's and also Crate and Barrell. PB has no 6x9's. Definitely run the long side of the rug with the length of the room. Also, will you be placing a TV console table under the TV? If so, think about how it will factor into the size of the rug. I would want it to either but up close to the front legs of the console or at least a foot under it. Hope that makes sense....See MoreShould I replace this blue rug in our living room?
Comments (56)Thank you everyone, yes I seem to like the blue one too than the orange one. I guess first hunches are the right ones. Anyway, the blue one is back, until I decide what to do. Thanks @aktillary9....yes, love the placement of your top rug, it does complement the lower one and also makes the room look a nice size with the furniture just touching the edges. Comments (10)esale has this great tool where you can insert rugs into your uploaded photo. I just grabbed the first interesting rug that came up in the search. esalerugs.com Make sure you get the proper size, bigger is better. If you aren't sure about an online rug, order the smallest size available to check the color and texture. It will be much easier to return if you don't like it....See MoreHow should we arrange our new couch in our “bowling alley” living room
Comments (11)This is a close up of a tweedy type rug that might work for you - I just think a darker rug will cozy up the area and complement the ottoman so much better.... This rug has been discontinued and the remaining sizes are probably too big for your space, but it might be a direction to be looking, if it appeals to you: Something like this might work, too. I can't tell for sure about the colors but Pottery Barn has samples available in store if there is one near you, refundable deposit when returned:...See MoreLisa Anderson
