The space is on the small side, so I would try to get one in a color similar to the lighter color in the rug to the right of the sofa. Check Wayfair - lots of reasonably-priced rugs.

A couple of other tweaks for your room: please lower your art above the sofa about 4-5 inches, and bring the two pieces on the sides closer to the center. Ditto the piece above the cabinet. It is hung much too high - move it down so that the bottom overlaps the taller candle.

Thank you both! No kids but an indoor cat and we host a fair amount (people drink coffee and red wine in here regularly. The room gets used a lot for visiting, relaxing and watching movies/ reading books.

Art goes 5 - 8" above the furniture it's hanging over. You could tighten up your gallery and perhaps add more pieces.

No more red or black. I'd go with a natural color rug. I'd also tighten up the color palette on your pillows and throw and move the plant to the floor.

There are too many colors that don't make any sense in this room. I'd get rid of the blue, paint the legs of the stool black, replace the pillows with burlap or linen, add a plain jute rug.

You have more than enough red.
