Do you have something to eat from your garden, every day?
Comments (57)"can’t imagine doing without running water for 4 months!" It was . . . interesting. Fortunately, there's both an indoor pool, and a campground nearby that let us use the showers. And a neighbor let us fill jugs at his house. "You use green beans as dried beans? That’s a first! What do they taste like?" Dried beans are basically beans that have been left to get mature. So they just taste like beans to me. They're not as pretty and fun as, say, Vermont Cranberry Beans, and the flavor isn't as specific as most dried bean varieties, and also they're not as big so they don't shell quite as easily. But they're great for a lazy person :) "I guess you cook when you travel. The security check at the airport must be interesting with all that produce in your bag. You don't have a frying pan in there too? [g]" A fry pan -- lol! Well, on road trips I have been known to travel with a salad spinner and Cuisinart :) Always have to have a kitchen. Or someone else's home cooking. Really dislike restaurant food. Self seeded veggies are wonderful. And yes, the ones I mentioned come out good, even if not exactly true to seed, it all tastes good. (though they seem to be true, as well) If you'd have to pay for hay or straw it doesn't seem worth it. Maybe ask a couple neighbors if you can have their grass clippings and/or leaves? (those who don't use herbicides) It sounds like the next few years hold some exciting experimentation for you! You'll have to report back and tell us how it goes. I'd love to hear how you do with fall lettuce and greens if you try them this year....See MoreHow t make every day like weekend
Comments (3)Jannie, Suggest you find some other friends, as soon you'll probably find that your interests are different now than those of your old work buddies. I think you may also find that they get a bit negative, due to jealousy of your good fortune. As we get older, I've suggested that we keep learning new interests, finding new friends. Some have said that they have a lot of friends, now - so why bother? I replied that yes, you do have quite a few friends - and you'll keep losing them, whether from moving far away, heavy disability (e.g. Alzheimer's) and death. When it's your turn to go, of course, that problem of losing friends disappears. They ain't no trapdoors in heaven, I've heard - once they let you in, you're there. So no more losing friends, right? Enjoy each day as it comes. ole joyful...See MoreDo you wear every day jewelry?
Comments (47)I missed this first go round too. I think there is good, classic jewelry that will never go out of style. I also like stylish costume jewelry but not the stuff made to look like the "real thing", like fake diamonds, rubies, etc. I love unique necklaces. I'm talking costume jewelry for necklaces. I wear earrings most days, but not always. Most always wear my wedding ring diamond set - although there are times when I will wear a plain wide wedding band. Always wear one other ring on my right hand. I have an emerald cut 3 stone ring that I most often wear but occasionally will change it up. My dad recently gave me three rings that belonged to my mother and one is a gorgeous london blue topaz that I have worn several times. I never wear a watch and don't wear bracelets that often - other than my charm bracelet. I do like an earring on some men, but it depends on the man. And one earring only. tina...See MoreYou don't see this every day (pic)
