What do you think of Ninja kitchen appliances?

After many years, my KitchenAid food processor sounds as though it's about to quit. So here we are at Cyber Monday, and I'm browsing food processors on sale. I don't need a large size, but I do need power sufficient to grind almonds. I want to keep the price down as much as I can. I'm seriously considering a 9-cup Cuisinart with 600 watts, but it's been discontinued, and I don't know if that should be a concern or not.

Then along came the Ninja BN601 Professional Food Processor, with 1000 peak watts (what does "peak" mean?) and a slew of reviews from happy consumers. I haven't had any experience with the Ninja brand. Well, maybe that's not true. I bought a "bullet" blender some years ago that might have been made by Ninja, and I returned it because black specks appeared in my smoothie. But that's not a fair evaluation of the brand, and I wonder if some of you have had Ninja experiences to share.

The price is lower than I expected, and it's not even a Cyber Monday deal. This is good . . . or is it?

I know it's not a food processor, but I recently bought the Ninja toaster oven/air fryer. It's the one that you fold up after it cools. I had wanted to try air frying, but didn't want to commit to a one use appliance and had no room on my counter for a heavy appliance. This makes awesome toast and seems to work well for my occasional air fryer use. It has a nice, large 13x13 baking tray and fits 4 slices of toast....and I got it at a decent price at Kohls with various discount and Kohls cash.

Some electrical devices start with a power surge and then consumption drops. Or use higher power at, for example, higher speeds or higher loads.

Peak power suggests what the maximum electricity draw is. Standard home circuits are 15 amps - about 1600 watts - so as long as you don't have much else turned on, on the same circuit at the same time, it wouldn't trip a breaker.

I have the Ninja Blender with the small chopper I bought years ago. I love it, I also have the ninja coffee maker when it first came out. I don't use it very often but it's nice.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the responses. Live Wire Oak-- I think the Frigidaire is made by Electrolux. It says Electrolux inside it. Also, its the largest all refrigerator/all freezer units that don't cost upwards of $3K each. I love the look of the units side by side when they are built into a cabinet and the trim kit is used. I hope they operate as well as they look. Thanks :) AKChicago- I thought long and hard about the built in microwave, but thought it the lesser of the two evils of either the built in MW or the combo with the wall oven (built together). Those are really the only two options I considered for my kitchen (mostly for the look). I actually picked out all these appliances myself. My builder wasn't involved. Weissman- My thought exactly. The dishwasher performing very well is very important to me, so it was imperative that I find a great one. I think I have in the Asko. It has great reviews. The fridge and freezer just need to cool, freeze, and have spill proof shelves, and hold a lot. I think I have accomplished all I need in the Frigidaire, with a great built in look (built into my cabinetry and with the trim kit). Footballmom- I didn't know about the lowered BTU's. I'll have to ask some questions about that. Thanks :) And also the fan. Its actually a 36" cabinet above but the cabinetmaker says the bigger vent hood will not fit. I would like to double check. hilferty77- I also wonder about the Electrolux/Frigidaire vs the Electrolux Icon.

I think you can't go wrong with a KitchenAid Dishwasher. It seems everyone is very happy. We are pretty sure we have a KA dishwasher branded as Kenmore-Elite. We've had it for 6 years & it continues to work well. We just remodeled & it is the only appliance we did not change out. I have the Whirlpool Duet Steam Electric Dryer & regular washer and are very happy. Our clothes get very clean using very little water. I like the steam function on the dryer since it allows me to toss wrinkled, but clean clothes in the dryer & have them come out unwrinkled. I do need to be diligent about letting the washer & dispenser drawer air out since they can become musty. I try to do it between loads or at least once a week. I don't know anything about your other applicance choices although I have read a positive review about the GE profile Gas double oven range . . . Good luck.

I love black appliances and I did have a mix of SS and black for about 3 weeks and did not mind it at all. In fact, I kind of liked it. My stainless steel solid surface electric cooktop is, of course, black and the sides of stainless fridge are black, my built-in microwave was black. The dishwasher was black. Dishwasher went out during our upgrade of countertop and backsplash, so that was easy to move to stainless and as fate would have it, three weeks after the upgrade was complete, the microwave went out and we replaced it with stainless and I had no aversion to going to a mix for the long haul, but as it worked out it was a short haul. Personally, I prefer black over stainless just as I like other surfaces better than granite, but sometimes the man writing the check gets to pick some of the stuff. I also did not like the black sink when I had it in another house in another life, and in this house even with the black appliances, we immediately changed to a stainless sink (which we had done in the former house) as well. I think black and stainless are a good mix and match whereas some colors just do not do that well. Red, I love that Halcyon color and it will give your beautiful red kitchen a new look. (You have such great taste and that tile is to die for). I loved my red kitchen too but now I am loving my dry sage kitchen just as well. I am sure one day I will tire of that and perhaps, if and when that happens, I can find a pretty wheat color that I will fall in love with.

The Ninja coffeemakers have very good ratings on many websites. I have had coffee from one and it was quite good tasting.

have the same Ninja blender and small chopper. Love mine too. Double sets of sharp blades eliminate having to push things down towards the blades of the old blender. No more tiny bits of rubber in my cranberry sauce.

We bought a Ninja blender and I didn't like the way it still left pieces of fruit that wouldn't blend. I was having to chew my smoothies. I sold it, then bought a Harley Pasternak blender, which works great.

So based on that, I wouldn't buy another Ninja......however, people I know love their Ninja air-fryers.

I have the Ninja Food Processor, and i love it! Had a Cuisinart for years, and when it finally broke, i replaced it with another Cuisinart, and it just wasn’t like the old one…hated it so much i added it to my “things to donate” collection. Decided to give the Ninja a whirl, and am so happy with it. Gave one to my son last year for Christmas, and he loves his, too!

I have a Ninja air fryer and it's great. When I was picking out an air fryer, I went with Ninja because they also make shark vacuums, and I love my shark vacuum.

I had a Ninja something years ago which I loved for sometime until I discovered black specks, too, That really turned me off to the brand. I wondered how long I was ingesting black pieces before noticing. I have not wanted to consider their products since.

I love the Ninjas!! I have so many of their products and use them almost every day. Makes a fabulous smoothie. I keep the small one on my counter to chop onions, garlic, celery.

I love their blenders.

I've had them for years. They are work horses. I have an old Kitchen-aid but when it dies, Ninja!

Thanks so much for all the responses--you've convinced me!

When I headed for bed last night, Amazon's price was $79.99, and the $12 coupon they offered brought it down to $68. I wasn't quite ready to order at that point, and I wondered if I was risking the coupon disappearing in the morning. Well, by this morning the whole price had disappeared. They must have sold out, and now the lowest price from outside sellers is about $130.

But last night I noticed the Ninja website had an upgraded model, the Advanced. It comes with three disks instead of one, and something to store them in. I was tempted at the time because I wanted more shredding/grating/slicing options, but wasn't sure I wanted to pay that much more for them. Today, the game had changed, and Ninja was still offering its 15% off Cyber Monday coupon, bringing the price to $110. Still a good price for a food processor. So I bought it. Thanks again!

QVC shows it for $69. in stock, Pro model, DD has that one, very nice.

On my computer, QVC has the Pro model (same as Amazon) for $99 + $7.50 shipping. I would have gotten a discount for being a new customer, since I've never bought from QVC. But I'm glad I went for the Advanced with the extra discs. I'm used to having two reversible discs, and I'm too old to adapt. :-)

By the way, if anyone's interested, Bed Bath & Beyond has the Advanced model. Same price as Ninja's website, but their 20% off coupons are pretty famous. I wasn't able to access one, maybe because I've never bought from them either.

Cooper, I had no idea Ninja and Shark were related. I love my Shark vacuums too! Learned about Shark vacuums at the KT a long time ago.
