What do you think about these appliances
Comments (15)Madnap, I looked at the Thermador SXS 42" and the KA counterpart, and did a side-by-side comparison. Features-wise they stack up pretty close (the Thermador has better looking shelving, probably better lighting) in terms of capacity, organization and looks. The only thing I don't know about is how the noise levels compare. The almost $2K difference is price is too big to ignore. I'd rather put that into something else. I figure once I start using the fridge, I'm going to not even be able to see the shelves and the little differences. I'm trying to get the best deal on the KA. (I'm going for the non-dispenser, and panel ready model). Good Luck!...See MoreWhat do you think of black kitchen appliances?
Comments (15)I love black appliances and I did have a mix of SS and black for about 3 weeks and did not mind it at all. In fact, I kind of liked it. My stainless steel solid surface electric cooktop is, of course, black and the sides of stainless fridge are black, my built-in microwave was black. The dishwasher was black. Dishwasher went out during our upgrade of countertop and backsplash, so that was easy to move to stainless and as fate would have it, three weeks after the upgrade was complete, the microwave went out and we replaced it with stainless and I had no aversion to going to a mix for the long haul, but as it worked out it was a short haul. Personally, I prefer black over stainless just as I like other surfaces better than granite, but sometimes the man writing the check gets to pick some of the stuff. I also did not like the black sink when I had it in another house in another life, and in this house even with the black appliances, we immediately changed to a stainless sink (which we had done in the former house) as well. I think black and stainless are a good mix and match whereas some colors just do not do that well. Red, I love that Halcyon color and it will give your beautiful red kitchen a new look. (You have such great taste and that tile is to die for). I loved my red kitchen too but now I am loving my dry sage kitchen just as well. I am sure one day I will tire of that and perhaps, if and when that happens, I can find a pretty wheat color that I will fall in love with....See MoreGetting Close with Appliance Choices! Comments (3)I have a Whirlpool Duet washer and gas dryer (but not steam dryer) for about 3 months. They were an emergency replacement for the old Kenmores that died. They work fine. No complaints. I don't know if I could ever rave about a washer. No experience with Elux fridge, but can tell you that my appliance salesperson (who is an old friend of DH so I trust her) warned me sternly off of Elux in general. She said the ones in their test kitchens are in constant need of repair; and overall, they are what customers call for service on the most. I really want their ovens, so I may ignore her on that because they offer features that others don't in that price range. But for a fridge, it seems like you could find something else more reliable that has the same features. I don't know your OTR MW, but I will tell you that I don't like OTR MW in general and would avoid if at all possible. There are plenty of ways to place MW these days at much better heights. And then you could get a real vent hood that has much better ventilation capacity....See MoreWhat do you think of these kitchen appliances?
Comments (2)I have a similar set up. Induction is awesome, you will never, ever miss the time you spent cleaning you rprevious cooktop, and the control on induction is as good as gas. I have the 36" cooktop, CSO, and one of the MasterChef ovens because my husband was with me and he gets easily upsold ;-) PS The CSO is heavenly, just as great as everyone says....See MoreAlisande
