Assuming the shutters are staying, I would suggest going with white trim along the roof line to tie in with the window trim, white for the gutters, and a deep purple/eggplant for the shutters and columns which would both work with the gray roof and provide nice contrast with what appears from the photo to be a light butterscotch exterior. I think the green does not ideally complement the rest of the house, gives it a more dated look, and draws the eye more to the lawn and tree leaves vs. the home itself based on the color connection.

Hey there jessep! New Berlin - small world! I I think you are definitely right about keeping the soffit light because it is over two feet wide. I'm still stuck on the idea of chestnut bronze for the fascia, gutters & windows. Leaving the soffit white (alabaster) would also allow me to leave the garage door white because I definitely don't want to paint or replace that since it's in good shape. The roof is brown and what's worse that it's got kind of a mahogany/violet undertone. I would much prefer one the color of the example picture. I will also take your advice regarding large color samples to help us make any decisions easier. Thanks for that! I was talking with another friend this weekend who said that he thought I should stay away from a black facia because it may fade and get ashy looking. To replace the barn red maybe we'll try matching the color of our brick to help make the house look all-brick? I don't know...

If they not installing new facia and only want to slip the facia up to the screws, if any water will get behind the facia it will be trapped there. Do it the right way or tell them not to install it at all.

I think the issue is that your mulls between the windows are much wider than the trim around the windows. I had a similar issue in our new build, but since I had a wide lintel above the windows, it balanced the wider mulls. We had to do the wider mulls due to hurricane/impact building codes. Paint the mulls the same color as the windows so they look like the windows/doors below.
