Grandma_Bonnie, are you sure you had a chicken pox vaccine? The reason I ask is that my kids are 21 and 33 and they didn't have a chicken pox vaccine when they were young. I was so hoping that it would be available before they caught chicken pox, but it wasn't. My daughter (oldest) was about 10 when she had chicken pox, so I'm thinking the vaccine wasn't available until sometime after 1989. As far as getting the shingles vaccine, I did go ahead and do it. A friend, in her upper 40's, had shingles last year and said it was the most painful thing she's ever had. And it just seemed to last forever. I know that the vaccine doesn't prevent it in all cases, but when it doesn't prevent shingles, it's said to lessen the severity so I'm hoping it was a wise move. I had the vaccine at 57 and my doctor said that though they recommend it for anyone over 60, they will generally give it to people over 50 if they request it.

terrilynn, we still wear masks and social distance here, out in public, but I am not worried about getting Covid again, since I am immune. There are updated PubMed reports on Durable Cars Covid 2 now, if you've had mild to severe cases (and most likely even asymptomatic-but the reports aren't out on those yet) of Covid-immunity is much longer now, 8 to 9 months-and with the probability of total immunity. They can't check it any longer, since Covid 19 is only a year old. But, I will let everyone do their own research, and of course each individual needs to be comfortable with their individual decisions. I'm definitely not trying to talk anyone into my thinking but, just know, the CDC is very slow at getting info out. I think it's best, everyone do their own research and not depend solely on CDC or especially the media. Heck, for example, they were very slow at stating people should be taking Vitamin D, and I had been taking it 5 months before they came out with the info. And, that is just one example. Ridiculous. Oklahoma should be reaching herd immunity by April, if they keep up with the vaccines as well as they are now. Now, if other states were doing as well. At least Texas is doing a great job too, good to know, as we go to the Dallas area quite a bit. California is doing horribly at getting people vaccinated, I hear. Unless that's changed in the last week. Hope so. And, kudos to West Virginia for being the best!

When I got my 1st dose on Friday, I was given information about the CDC's app for reporting side effects, called V-safe. As part of this, the CDC will contact you via the app to ask how you are, any problems, any illness. I hope that any of you who have had side effects (I had a rash the next day, that lasted about 16 hours) have downloaded it and are participating. This is how we can help to know just how effective the vaccines are as well as the issues people are having with them.

@terezosa / terriks we got our shots at walgreens. They were on top of it - but there was some kind of computer glitch. I had to set up appointments for each of us using a seperate email address. I got my confirmation and then cancellation - about 4 times. LOL The Mr got confirmations and no cancellations. I called the store and they were SO nice. Told me to come on in with him. Which I did, no problems. And, I still have confirmation of my second appointment. It never cancelled that one. (You scheduled 1st and 2nd appt. at the same time.)
