Counters Are In! Need Backsplash Advice
Comments (7)Beautiful kitchen! Your panels in your upper cabinets give your kitchen a traditional look so I would stay away from anything that looks too modern or too busy. I have AZ Tile Tumbled Camargo (travertine) 2x4 with antique linen grout and light almond outlet covers. The Camargo has some subtle color variations in it and it not as "holey" as other tumbled stone. It has some nice beige tones that would complement your floor and cabinets. At the same time it has some nice gray tones that would complement your granite. Good luck with your decision!...See Morewhat type of backsplash looks good with Santa Cecila countertops?
Comments (4)Welcome to the Forum! Have you had a chance to check the Finished Kitchens Blog (FKB)? It not only has many, many finished kitchens from GWers over the years, but it also has a "categories" page. Look for the "FKB Categories" link in the navigation panel on the right side of any home kitchen page in the FKB. Scroll down to the "Countertops" section and look for your stone's name. When you click on the name, you will be taken to a page that lists all the kitchens with that stone. If your stone is not listed, look for some with similar coloring. Click on one of the GWers in the list and you will see that person's kitchen and what backsplash s/he has. (I just looked, there are 11 kitchens with Santa Cecilia stone.) Good luck! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BTW...you're probably not receiving emails of follow-up postings, even though you checked the box requesting them. This is b/c you don't have the email option turned on in your profile. See the "Read Me" thread (linked below) for more information. Scroll down to the post with the subject "Getting Emails Sent To You...3-step Process". Comments (25)Hi, I think to calm everything down, you will want to match one of the lightest colours out of your granite for the backsplash. I also think that a larger format tile might help offset some of the busy-ness of the floor. I'd go with coordinating colour for the grout, or just slightly darker than the tile...but not a lot darker - you don't need more action in that kitchen. How about something like this which appears to have a bit of surface texture but is still very simple. That one is from Tilebar and I know they have a great sample policy so it is worth hopping onto their site and choosing a few you think might work for you and ordering them in. Yes, a solid colour rug and big enough to cover most of the tile (Ikea is your friend on this) will help until you have budget to redo the floor. Flippers who use the cheapest materials available are just wasting so much time and effort, not to mention money. I've seen so many houses where a flipper has come in and used the cheapest tiles and fixtures and covered everything with a fresh coat of paint. Then they want a 200% return on their investment and cannot understand why it isn't selling. And it isn't long until all the cheap finishes end up in landfill. Sigh............See MoreBacksplash Suggestions To Go With Soapstone Counters
Comments (29)I’m currently remodeling my kitchen, going with Black Venata soapstone with a 4” matching backsplash. The walls are just painted in a semi gloss - which worked fine with the old Formica counters too. . My house is older (1918) but really lacking in architectural detail, so I’m trying to keep it very simple. But my vote in your case would be to go for the bead board. It sounds like it would be both beautiful and historically appropriate. I guess my advice would be to bear in mind that you may decide to oil your soapstone - or you may not. If you elect to go with tile it should look good with the untreated gray, the color of the veins, and the oiled soapstone as well....See Moreacop89
