Your favorite white daylily (or near white)
Comments (12)The bloom on Last Snowflake is amazing but it increases VERY SLOWLY in my Nova Scotia garden and it has never shown the scape height or branching it is supposed to have. Hopefully it will get there eventually. My current favorites are Victorian lace for full formed, Heavenly Angel Ice for SPUFs, and VLXWTV04 for seedlings. I have some new ones that I am watching this year. They are Polar Bear Express, Pointer Sisters and Mississippi Memories. Now, on with the pictures: Victorian Lace Heavenly Angel Ice Victorian Lace X Within the Veil #4 (VLXWTV04)...See MoreFavorite Near Whites of the Season
Comments (25)Late to the party so no one may still be looking, but sometimes life just has a habit of getting in the way of this fun!! I don't have many whites but I do like the ones I have. I added Lillian's Thin Ice but too late to bloom this year. I love the look of Forsyth Summer Snow and may need it, too. And if Isabelle Rose astounded Mantis, it is going on my list too!! :)Michael Miller. I know some people have problems with this one, but it does well for me. Wonders Never Cease-more cream than white, I suppose. Gentle Shepherd. You can see the comparison of white with Wonders Never Cease above. GS is an oldie but I will always keep it. Porcelain Ruffles-multiplies like crazy and blooms forever. In my great garden design scheme, that is Gentle Shepherd behind it and of all things I have Arctic Snow beside it. Some of that "quick, gotta find a hole for these lilies" design! And my favorite, Voila Francois. Does it bloom on short scapes, yes; does it multiply well, yes; is every bloom absolutely perfectly beautiful, yes. OK, for two out of three I will always keep it!!! Comments (58)I like white daylilies and added a few this year. I don't seem to be having luck posting photos right now so will try again later. Debra, I love Lillian's Thin Ice. I have L. Vapor Trail, but i think i like LTI better. Sherry, i like Sunday Gloves. My Ice Carnival did not bloom at all this year. Brad, Desert Icicle was new for me this spring, pretty blooms but short. Yours is really pretty. Signet, I love Lace Cookies. I moved mine a couple of years ago, apparently it did not like it's new spot, immediately started to decline and completely gone now. Karen, Artic Lace and Great White look so nice, I really like the form of Great White. Nice seedling too. Alex, a great pic of Wonder of it All. Kate, love Voila Francois. A fan survived my husband putting a cart on top of it. Stardust Dragon is pretty, and with those buds is a real keeper. Celeste, White Satin and Heavenly Curls are beautiful Nancy, last Snowflake is so nice. Heavenly Angel Ice does pretty well here, wish it were a little taller. So very white though...See MoreNear White and Cream Daylilies 2022
Comments (16)Scandinavia is a good performer here--tall scapes well budded. No pictures this year because it was divided. Arctic Lace not good here--short and low bud count here in the north--but more snow cover might help. Caribbean Whipped Cream is good, but no pics this year. Great White, indeed, very slow. It's amazing how Indian Giver gives so many white seedlings. Number 4 looks appealing. I like the Victorian Lace seedling. And How High the Moon looks interesting. Is it primarily upfacing? Quite tall I see. Boundless Beauty, of course, is very nice. For some reason, not many pics of it. (It wasn't a great year for it, and I tend not to take pics of those already well archived.) We all know that it hangs up quite a bit. Some have claimed 30% of blooms, though it isn't that high here. Curt Hanson has a seedling from Boundless Beauty, not as elaborately ruffled but doesn't hang up and is generally a very flat flower. It will never be introduced. It is named "Send a Beam" in the garden. Not a typical Hanson name. He would choose something like "Virgin Panties." Isabelle Rose amazes. The Dougherty Snowflake Empress is an appealing off-white here. Also Known AS gives day after day of gorgeous blooms. Not fast to increase. Large bloom, taller than JT Davis. Such reliability that one is sated by its performance. Mal is probably the best performing of the Stamile whites here. Winter Treasure is very white, but not fast to increase The Dougherty Nobel continues to please. Early Snow still deservant of a place. White Chocolate Mike Derrow's White Icon is slow to increase, but a very white and beautiful large flower. JT Davis was nice this year. It's a short scape (not beneath the foliage though) that stands out with its yellow and white contrast. Heavenly Angel Ice is not a strong grower here (and not that tall), but has radiant blooms. Victorian Lace I have always liked; reliability is one factor. Arnold's Daughter snuck in here. Lots of nice flowers with a whitish base. Blizzard Bay, an older Stamile, is very white and later blooming. More vigorous than things like Arctic Lace here....See MoreMaryl (Okla. Zone 7a)
