Try posting this on the kitchen forum, along with a photo. It seems to get a lot more traffic. Having said that, some shade of white seems to be the most popular paint color for kitchen cabinets. You have a wood floor, great because wood is the current trend in kitchen floors. With the black appliances, not sure how the white cabinets will work. Maybe upper cabinets white, lowers in a dark gray? Using more than one color in kitchen cabinets is very popular also. I've read a lot of postings about painting honey oak cabinets, seems like we all had them, they were very popular in the 80's and 90's. (I still have my honey oak bathroom cabinets) But, there are a lot of really knowledgeable and helpful people on the kitchen forums, with great decorating talent, so try and post there and I am sure they'll have some good suggestions for you.

They already had the glass in them, but didn't look near as nice with their original finish. Painting was quite the chore, but I'm SO glad I did it. I did leave the inside of these as they were to bring out the brown and white dishes I display there. I painted the inside of the uppers the same as the doors, but lost steam by the time it came to the lower cabinets. Only the outside is painted. Below is a link for the FKB and the inspiration for my color choice. She used a glaze on her cabinets, but you can still tell how soft the white is. Pluckymama, the FKB allows you to look at several kitchens with painted cabinets, just look under the "FKB Category List" section. Scroll down to "Cabinets", then under color choose "White/Cream". I have to scroll down to actually see the entries, so don't be fooled by an almost blank page. Your cabinets are lovely. I would not change them if they were mine, and I tend to prefer white kitchens. Painting them properly (ie professionally) is costly and will never be as good as a factory finish, and wood cabinets are not the best base for paint if you want to avoid cracking and peeling. Change the counter and backsplash instead to give it a bit of an updated look. Something lighter and more modern. Change hardware to something like stainless steel/brushed nickel bar pulls.

I agree that painting the cabinets is not necessary - but if you want to - what about the blue-ish color that's in the tile/backsplash? Its hard to tell on a computer screen - but that looks like it could be a really great beachy but classy color that could be really pretty!
