Comments (48)Kismet, I love this kitchen too and it is my inspiration kitchen. I would love the aqua blue if I could keep the Roesmary Sprig. I am really emotionally invested in this color. Do you think I could get away with that? Lyfia, your approach is what seems easiest to me too, white on uppers and lowers with white on panleing and Rosemary sprig on walls. But ... Falling waters, do you think that even if I had a darker floor you'd want the Rosemary Sprig on the bottom? Maybe white on paneling and trim and Rosemary Sprig on top part of walls and on lower cabinets???? Comments (12)I also think your cabinets are quite nice, and with the new flooring will look great. I am not sure what granite suggest- do you like dark or light? I think key is the flooring and once that is done you can re-visit. Comments (31)I think your cabs look good, and from what I can see, look in good condition. Not painting, I would do a new countertop in soapstone or something similar, and backsplash probably painted a white the same as I would paint the soft, or do a subway tile. But, you’ve already taken the doors apart! So I guess it’s full on paint them! It’s going to be a big job! But if it’s diy, Beth has given you some good direction. Good Luck! 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoI would change the hardware to something like a stainless bar pull with no curves or designs. Remove the backspash and replace with something that actually goes with the counter in a simple gray glass tile subwy style but stacked pattern , get a counter depth fridge in stainless and remove the cabinet where the desk is and install a wine cooler . I use these pulls from Lee Valley .After all that I think you will find the cabinets are okay .

5 years agoAbsolutely agree with Sabrina Alfin Interiors and CV & Associates, LLC. Change the counters and backsplash - the backsplash is more dated to me than the cabinets - but leave the cabinets as they are. Stained wood cabinets are coming back so keeping them will give you an updated look.
This kitchen's floor and cabinets are close to what you have but look at the difference new counters and backsplash give it compared to yours.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoYour cabinets are lovely. I would not change them if they were mine, and I tend to prefer white kitchens. Painting them properly (ie professionally) is costly and will never be as good as a factory finish, and wood cabinets are not the best base for paint if you want to avoid cracking and peeling.
Change the counter and backsplash instead to give it a bit of an updated look. Something lighter and more modern. Change hardware to something like stainless steel/brushed nickel bar pulls.
