Help ASAP: should air vents be next to ceiling lights?
Comments (9)Update: Builder did not arrange a meeting with the HVAC super. However they did pass on our concerns, and some changes were made today. Two smaller vents were installed in the living room several feet away on either side of the light fixture instead of the one large central one. So we are happy with that. The family room is now also two smaller vents, but they are much closer still to the center of the room and will right right above where each couch will be in that room. This room is 18 x 22, with a sliding glass door behind where the person taking the picture is standing. There is also a 12 ft. wide opening to the kitchen/ breakfast nook behind and to the right of the photographer. The unit is a Lennox 14HPX-048-230-18. Will be engineered with air handler to be a 15 SEER. I asked about the air handler model and I am still waiting to hear back. I know this system gets bad reviews but we just don't have the budget to do anything else right now, and builder, not being custom, won't let us shop around. I am still concerned about this family room. Should I request another change, moving each of the two air diffusers even further back towards each perimeter? Should there be a third one anywhere, or is the two enough?...See MoreLayout help ' can hall area be incorporated into kitchen?
Comments (3)ooh...that's exciting to see the separate fridge/freezer in the layout. Because the boys are so young, only dinner is a "sit-down" meal. Breakfast and lunch are usually the boys sitting down while other work is being done in kitchen - cooking and cleaning. But maybe if their designated seats are the non-sink and dishwasher side it won't be a problem. I hadn't considered setting the fridge all the way back before. That does bridge the space between the main kitchen and the far hallway. Also I like not having the fridge on the stove wall, so it will be easier to make the stove a nice focal point. DH and I weren't crazy about the fridge on the sink wall either, but wasn't sure if it was "reasonable" or not. I'll nix that idea. I did have some 2 opening plans. I kind of liked the door there because it gave access to bathroom and lined up with the door to the family room. But previously I couldn't figure out how to get the island in if I scooted things down that wall. I will re-look at that. Thanks for your observations and suggestions!...See MoreHallway Lights - help!
Comments (17)Always, thanks! The fixtures are from Z-Lite and it's their Albion collection. Mine is a 3 light pendant that is approximately 8"H and 16"W. It's listed as a foyer pendant but comes with two different rods for different lengths. We used the short rod which is 4.5" but there's also a longer rod that's actually attached to the fixture when it arrives and can be 18-36" long. Both rods are in the box, you just have to look for the shorter one! We have 8 foot ceilings and our hallways are about the same as yours, 39." We do have pretty thick door trim though that sticks out so we're probably basically the same as your 38." Prickly, whew, it took forever to pick lights. And whenever I thought I'd picked one, something went wrong (out of stock, wrong size, cracked shade, etc.) and I'd have to start over again! I'm so excited that I can sleep again! Good luck choosing yours! I hope you'll post your options!...See MoreNeed help with hall bathroom lighting placement
Comments (13)LOL, YES, I am on overload for sure. I can see the finish line or maybe I am the horse that sees the barn! We have been remodeling since 2011. Yes, we have a heater,, vent, nightlight combo in all bathrooms. I am a big believer in them. We are changing the mirrors, cabinets, lights, and the tub will be changed to a shower. The marble floor will stay. The previous owners put that same marble in the kitchen. You can probably imagine what it looked like after 20 years on a kitchen floor. It was awful to remove, so we will keep the marble floor in the bathroom. We will probably go with white and/or and gray tile because of the black and white marble. We have already installed a white Toto toilet. The electrician asked what I am using for lights. I had no answer because I didn't know he was coming today until he texted last night. I will try to get into a bathroom showroom Thursday. Thank you!...See MoreJAN MOYER
