Some of the children in my children's classes who had such birthdays would also have a half birthday celebration to make up for any truncation of their actual birthdays.

No such problem in my family, though my eldest's birthday can land on Easter, which is easy to solve, party on another day, presents, family celebration on Easter.

All birthdays and holidays have to revolve around my work schedule. When the kids were smaller it was very frustrating because the ex always waited until I had picked a day for our Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner and then he would pick the same day. Poor kids would rush at my house, eat a full meal and then have to go to their father's house for a second one. Sometimes I would just have it a week or two before or after just to avoid this crap.

I put myself down to work this Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think, so we will just have it some other day. Maybe a week out. No one in my family growing up or current one has a birthday that lands on a holiday. Except for me...Labor Day which isn't a big deal. It will just be me, my daughter, her boyfriend and possibly one of my daughter's friends this year for Thanksgiving. Not sure if my son will come home for Christmas, he has accumulated a heck of a lot of leave since he's been in the A.F., due to all the training he had to go through and then covid.

I have two sisters and a brother with birthdays in December. One is New Years Eve. They were always given their own day.

DH has a brother whose birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgiving. He claims the entire month.🤪

My father's birthday is December 25. I don't know how it was handled when he was a kid. I should ask him that. We usually celebrate his birthday Christmas morning with cards and gifts and then serve a birthday cake as a part of the extended family Christmas meal.

My DD's birthday is December 6. One year she asked me if I would just give her one of her Christmas gifts for her b'day. I told he of course not!

OOOOOO! December 6th, St. Nicholas day! The "bonus" holiday for little Catholic children everywhere! That was the day the saint himself supposedly filled our stockings with all sorts of yummy treats! (plus some random fruit and whatever taken out of the kitchen when he needed a filler I think) 🤣

December 25 would be tough. Our daughter was born on New Year's Day. Maybe not as hard as Christmas Day, but people are kind of DONE with parties and gifts by Jan 1. That being said, we do have a birthday gathering every New Year's Day. Our son was born on Labor Day but that day varies each year and is a lot easier.

Mine is January 4th and I definitely get those vibes by my birthday. People are tired of celebrating stuff and just want to get on with normal life. As an adult it doesn't matter as I do not expect any hub bub. My SO always still makes a big deal out of it though.

My own birthday occasionally falls on Easter or Good Friday. I think when I was six or soo, but it was no problem.

We have a birthday season in December and January. Besides some birthdays in the first 3 weeks of December, a cousin is Dec 26, a BIL Dec 29, a sibling NYE, and my own children one and two weeks to the day after NYE.

One year, I was so birthday-ed out, my son looked at his blue-by-request cake and asked, ”Mom, why does my cake look like that?”. Well, that year we had a party favor involving photos, and the photographer mentioned that his family always did brownies. Perfect! We had seen that kids ate either icing or cake, and never noticed the decorations on the cake. But everyone likes brownies, and it’s easy to send home or to store. So we did brownies for a few years. Then, one kid asked for birthday pie, and that became our go-to for the sleepover parties. The kids helped make the pies, with their choice of filling on their part of the pie. Brilliant!

And, with his birthday so soon after Christmas, one DS started asking his guests to bring not gifts for him, but for the animal shelter. The kids looooved doing that, and so did the moms! Old towels or blankets, dog toys, pet food, newspapers, etc, they might not even have to shop.

We rarely hold to birthdays on the day. Although, my sibling on NYE, well, he usually has a cake along with the champagne and fireworks, even at age 60.

My birthday was the day before my narcissistic self absorbed mother's. We had combined birthdays and of course you can see whose birthday we celebrated. We had a cake war every year. We were supposed to get to choose our Bday cake but naturally we had coconut for my mother. Oh well. I did eventually come to do all the baking. I have a friend whose family celebrated with Pie and they got to choose the pie they liked and would get an entire pie of their own that they did not share. I cant imagine what you do with an entire pie. It seems a strange custom but it made them happy. One of my brother's birthdays could fall on Easter but I only remember that happening once. He was too young to care. Coconut cake of course.

My mothers birthday is also the day after mine and we also shared a cake. Luckily, we are both hard core, unapologetic chocoholics so it worked out.

My grandson's birthday is Christmas Eve. We go out to dinner. I've always given separate gifts when he was young. He'll be 18 this year, and only wants cash or gift cards. When he was little, they'd have a cake party in the summer with his friends.

I have a niece and nephew who are siblings, born two years apart but on the same date which happens to be Valentines Day. What are the chances, right?

Another nephew is born on Christmas Eve and his family have always celebrated it on Christmas Eve when he was growing up but not as an adult. It just got too difficult.

My sisters birthday can fall on Mothers Day but her daughters MIL kicks up such a fuss when this happens and she plays the "woe is me card I'm more important because it's Mothers Day" (she is a piece of work) that it's just easier to celebrate my sisters birthday on a different day.

My sons birthday is November 24th and at a young age he just asked me not to decorate the house for Christmas or to ask him what he wanted for Christmas until after his birthday. It was a simple thing for me to do.

My birthday is mid-January and I got really tired of combination Christmas/birthday gifts when growing up. My parents had 6 kids and it was just easier for them to do that. I get it but my DH and kids are under strict instructions to never do that.

Yep, birthdays can be a minefield.

My daughter was due on my birthday. She was accommodating enough to arrive a week early. I was born on Easter Sunday. When Easter fell in my birth month I had a lot of duck and bunny cakes on my birthday when I was quite little.

My birthday is the day before my mom’s. My two younger sisters are four days and seven days after my mom’s birthday. We had four birthdays within 8 days. Sometimes one BD would fall during Easter.

When we were kids, my mom baked a cake and threw a party for each one of us on our day.

The challenge has been to find restaurants that are open on my birthday so I don't have to cook.

The only person in the family whose Birthday was a 'national holiday' in his mind was Uncle A. We all had to phone him July 11 and gush over him. When the kiddies were little Husband insisted their parties be after the actual dates. So we selected a convenient weekend and threw a party. Now they are all out of state so family get togethers for Birthdays aren't an issue.

My daughter’s birthday often falls around Easter. As a child, we sometimes had Easter-themed birthday parties, egg hunts, etc which the other kids loved.

My DGD has a birthday that falls around Thanksgiving. Growing up she had several friends who had birthdays just days apart from hers and it was always hard to schedule parties. So she opted to hold hers early several times. She asked us to hold haunted hayrides just prior to Halloween at our farm and we enjoyed doing it. The kids (and some parents) loved it, with some never having the opportunity to see meteors, make s’mores, have sack races, and all the other fun things we did. Our neighbors even got into the ’haunted hayride’ part and had fun with us.

My mother’s birthday was Dec 14, and I always thought her birthday got a little lost. But we always celebrated at home and I can remember buying her small gifts.

I was born on my parents' third anniversary. It was more or less planned, since the doctor told my mother that he would have to induce labor and asked her to pick a day. She said, how about Thursday at 4 pm, and so that's when I was born. My mother was upset that my father did not giver her an anniversary present that year, but he told her that I was his present, along with the flowers at the hospital, but for her, that was not enough.

My 2 daughters were born on the 26th of December and the 30th of December. They were 4 days short of being a year apart, so they had a lot of the same friends and it worked to commemorate the 2 birthdays together. We did that as a half birthday get together of their closest friends with a trip to the movies and ice cream after at Dairy Queen. No gifts or party etc.

I have a problem with the elaborate parties that many put on for their kids these days. Recently a family member threw one for her 3 year old. rented a hall, invited 30 people. the invitations noted that he was registered at Amazon and Target and gave his sizes and wish list for clothes. Way overboard in my thoughts.

I should add here that the above half birthday thing took place when my girls were from age 6 and 7 to 12 and 13. Before age 6 there was a cake present at some point over Christmas or New Year as my Dad, Mother-in-law and 2 nieces also had birthdays in the last 10 days of December and my Mom's was January 6 th

When I worked IT, the boss always made me work Thanksgiving AND Christmas....unless....I scheduled a vacation week and was out-of-the-country......otherwise he'd MAKE me come in to check on things. ☺ Towards the end, the company was being sold, I refused to work.....so my coworker....the belly dancer(yeah...they said she didn't have to know anything, if I passed out she was there to call 911) and the tape librarian worked, programs crashed, none were repaired, payroll was 3 days behind, generations had to be backed out....HUGE mess to deal with......I called Houston, told a programmer it was HIS program...he'd be held responsible...he wanted those two women FIRED....he asked "Why hadn't I worked. Trying to make it my fault."........Merry Christmas!

My birthday is in December. I "always" buy myself something nice and tell my husband "this is from you." Makes him smile...and I tease him...."Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh....it's such a nice whatever. You have excellent taste." I get lots of smiles....lots of laughs....we have fun with it!

We always have the birthday/ holiday conundrum. My son and I are right before/ after memorial Day. older son is July 2 and my mother is right at Labor Day. We always celebrate on the day but it was problematic when the kids were young because so many people go away on long weekends and restaurants are closed. I had my kids birthday parties on a weekend close to the actual date. The older one had his right before school closed because his friends would be away in July and sometimes he was at camp. For the family, we did the real date. Having my birthday two days before my son, I feel like i kind of steal his glory. We are caked out after one birthday.

DD's birthday is a couple of days after Christmas. We tried to make it special but Christmas hangover made it difficult. She got her meal of choice and usually there were some friends still in town for an overnight party. After a while she just wanted to go to a Chuck e cheese as her party. That's how we escaped the Christmas decorations dilemma for several years.

Sometimes I wish that my birthday was on Feb 29th, I'd be a lot younger today.

My birthday sometime lands on Canadian Thanksgiving which often is celebrated the Sunday before. I never liked when my birthday was on the same day as the holiday. haha I want pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving and birthday cake on my birthday, not at the same time. Also I would rather go out for a birthday dinner than eat a turkey dinner. Oh, the small things .... haha

I don't. The executive secretary where I used to work was born on April 1, and no one ever forgot when her birthday was. It's probably the easiest birth date to remember.
