Window treatment advice for sliding doors

We put in this sliding door to replace the previous swinging patio door during renovations last spring and still have not figured out a window treatment for it! Initially we thought standard sliding door blinds would suffice, but when we measured them up against this door, it seemed they were too bulky for the small clearance we have from the end of the sliding door to the wall and window on each side. Since then we agreed doing a simple curtain and black curtain rod would look just fine (especially since we plan to switch all the silver for black hardware in the kitchen eventually). If we do this, the question I have is how high and wide do I hang the curtain? From the right of the door to the edge of the window is 4”, from left of the door to the corner of the wall is 5.5”. From the top of the door to the ceiling it’s 17”. From the top of the door to the floor it’s 78.5” (which would make it 95.5” floor to ceiling). Any advice/suggestions for window treatments would be great if appreciated!!

I'll throw in the fact that one side is stationary. So the dimension on that side is not as critical.

You have many choices for a patio door; panel trak, vertical soft shade (vertical with sheer fabric over it) or if your doing cellular shades a vertical cellular might be nice. What purpose would the door covering serve? Privacy? Light control? Decorative only? I would never use vertical blinds--I just don't like them. So that leaves either curtain panels on a rod with enough fullness to cover the entire span of glass, or some sort of Roman shade installed high up on the molding or wall (if you need privacy and/or light control). If it's decorative only, then curtain panels that cover part of the glass/frame, but that can be pulled back far enough to open the door.

Take down the curtain rod and remove the painters tape. Since you don't need privacy, find some art that will fit on the wall by the light switch and the wall at right angles to the right side of the door.

These are Rollease Acmeda motorized shades. They were around $6000. I really loved the Lutron motorized shades (they are really quiet) but they were going to run $10K and I just couldn't justify the extra $4K.

I might do one long rod on the wall. over the slider and both windows. drape pulled to right for opening.

In real life, we put in a slider with the little blinds between the glass. Perfect solution for us, no need for drapes.

From a drapery perspective, it would be better if the fixed panel and the operable panel were switched, meaning the fixed panel was closer to the corner that way the drapery would draw into the corner and over the fixed panel and you would not have to worry about the minimal space between the operable door and the windows. On some sliders this can be switched because of the way the hardware works (or they used to be made this way sometimes).

That’s a good point with the built in blinds. We had considered doing that, but were worried they could break over time and would not be able to be easily replaced. Now I’m wishing we would’ve just done it…
One long rod across the whole wall might be a little too much considering we open the window blinds often to let the sunlight in. I’m totally fine with keeping just the blinds for the windows and putting up curtains for the sliding door. This is probably the hardest design dilemma we’ve had with the house!

Also makes sense about switching the fixed panel for the corner. Unfortunately that would mean people would be coming in and out right next to the kitchen table…but I get what you’re saying. That does make sense drapery-wise! No easy solution with this area of the house. I had considered doing something like Roman or woven shades instead, but thought they might not be as functional.
