I'm not a decorator, but if it was my space, I'd get curtains with a rod that went out far enough so the curtains would take up some of that space.

Wish I could see more of this room. Yes, move the etagere elsewhere and replace the tiny end table a larger one and place a nice big lamp on it. I would replace the mirror by the door with art, centered between the lamp and the entry door.

I would spin the sofa to make a "seating area" put the chair/stool near the window corner. I agree with filling the wall with drapes. you need the fabric for acoustics and to soften the space. Create an "Entry area" with the mirror, a table for keys, and a couple large hooks on the wall to great peeps on arrival. Move the book shelves to another spot.

You'll be amazed at the suggestions you get from posting photos of all sides of the room. The solution is probably right there, but you're ignoring it and we can't see it for lack of photos.

Okay I moved the shelves! Here are a few more pictures. I’m terrible at decorating but I can’t relax until it looks cohesive. 😅 been playing around with pillows and colors.

I would knock off the ledge/shelves off the fireplace wall and move the tv above the fireplace, it's your focal point. Create a tv/fireplace viewing seating area.

I’ve been trying to get my husband on board with that idea for a lonnnng time! We are actually renting from the owners right now so we unfortunately can’t do that but I agree that would make things much easier! 🥴

i would suggest turning the sectional to the left and then whre the sectional is you can put 2 Love seats, add a coffee table and an area rug. put a floor to ceiling mirror where the shelving is to open the room up and make a larger appearance.

If you don't watch TV much, it doesn't really matter, but none of the seating is in the right place for best viewing.
