lumber liquidators anyone?
Comments (26)We installed 720 sf of the Morning Star Click bamboo flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators in June of 2013. The material scratches easy, however, the scratches are the least of our problems. The cupping started with the shorter pieces in the hallways. By December 2013, the entire installation was cupping and gaps appeared in random areas. After contacting Lumber Liquidators about the problem, We were told that since we did not hire someone to test the moisture of the subfloor and the humidity in the house prior to the installation of this material, the warranty was void. In addition, I was told that our method of cleaning resulted in the problems with the floor. It seems that if the cleaner is sprayed directly on the floor, the material absorbs the moisture along the edges and this was another reason for the damage to the bamboo flooring. We purchased a 32 oz. bottle of cleaner after the floor was installed. Most of the time, the cleaning involves sweeping and using a dust mop. About once a month we get on our hands and knees, spray a fine mist of cleaner directly onto the floor and use a cloth towel to clean the floor. Since the installation, we have used the liquid cleaner about five times and still have about half of the cleaner left in the bottle. I guess 16 oz. caused the damage to the entire 720 sf of the floor, including the material under the furniture and area rugs!! Seriously?! In reading the various reviews for this product, it seems that there is a chronic problem with scratching, cupping and separations. It seems that Lumber Liquidators will use any excuse to avoid the liability for providing the customer with a very poor product. I understand that a product warranty is only as good as the company that stands behind it. We will have to replace our six month old floor and it sure as heck will not be with a product supplied by Lumber Liquidators. STAY AWAY!!!!! We learned a $5,000.00 lesson the hard way⦠donâÂÂt make the same mistake. STAY AWAY FROM LUMBER LIQUIDATORS! The LLI warranty should be condensed to read: âÂÂWarranty is void if material is removed from factory packagingâÂÂ....See MoreLumber Liquidators Tranquility Vinyl vs. Home Depot TrafficMaster
Comments (0)Hello, We're trying to finalize flooring decisions for our moisture/water vulnerable basement. We're going with flooring options that either don't care or are easy to clean/dry/replace if they get wet. In one area, we're going with Flor carpet tile. But, in another area, we're considering vinyl planks. From what we understand, they're waterproof if there's a flood. We're trying to pick between LL's Tranquility product (on sale at $2.24/sq ft with a 50 year warranty) vs HD's TrafficMaster Allure Ultra ($2.97/sq ft with a lifetime warranty). Now, for my wife and me (in our 40s), there's not a lot of difference in the warranty; we're not likely to be in the house when the Tranquility's warranty runs out. And, the Tranquility feels much more substantial than the TrafficMaster. So, does anyone have any experience with either of these products? Any other opinions? Thanks! Comments (8)I've had some pretty bad experience with them. I have posted it before, but want to make sure people know about my story, as I couldn't find any bad reviews when I tried to google Bellawood before ordering (I think I know why now). We have had over 700sqft of the Bellawood Maple Natural 3/4" x 4" installed and I can confirm that there are all kinds of irregularities with this flooring. About 70-80% of the planks are milled wrong, pieces are thinner than others, narrower on one end (which leaves gaps) and had minor cracks. So I have a lot of gaps, ups and downs and due to the irregular thickness and location of the tongue and groove some planks are squeeking as they are not fully touching the floor. Again, we bought "NATURAL" grade, which is next to "SELECT" and is only supposed to have more color variance not milling defects! LL says I should not have installed the floors, but called them, brought all the wood back, waited for new flooring to arrive at the store, gotten that, and resheduled my installation for a later time - Sorry, but this was a new construction and I couldn't wait around for the floors I had hoped for. And with almost 80% of the 700sqft being bad, I figured my chances for everything to be good quality next time to be very slim. The wood grain is pretty, but that's about it. For now we have to work with wood filer to hide all the gaps between the planks. When trying to post a review about their floors on their website, they never posted it and when contacting them, they said that they could choose what reviews to post. I didn't know such a misleading practice is even allowed!!!!!...See MoreChinese Hardwood Flooring - After Lumber Liquidators & 60 Minutes
Comments (8)When I started shopping for flooring, I scoured houzz for ideas and visited a multitude of stores, from speciality retailers, to big box stores and finally found Lumber Liquidators. (Sidebar: I think their name is very misleading as it implies downscale products ~ inferior or lesser quality flooring. Not true.) They sell flooring sourced from all over the world (including the USA) so to associate their brand with China is misleading. It was the Lumber Liquidator staff and houzz that educated me about flooring (kudos to houzz!) and I ended up choosing reclaimed pine and the natural rubio monocoat. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I wouldn't hesitate to shop at Lumber Liquidators. I'm not a laminate consumer, regardless of source. Overall, I believe that this laminate story will end up being about the safety testing of compressed wood products, regardless of the source (think IKEA and the many manufacturers who use the same materials in manufacturing consumer products). I'm disheartened that Lumber Liquidators was considered guilty BEFORE anything has been proven outside of a 60 Minutes show. Bah!...See MoreRyanne
