I’m with everyone else. I think you might hate it or not use it for its purpose if you did it. Think of all the traffic and shoes going in and out of your master bedroom (especially if you have carpet), not to mention carting food back and forth through it. Also, if you or your spouse isnt feeling well, or has to head to bed early while the party continues, its right outside your bedroom, and everyone gets to tromp right through your bedroom on the way out. And, they’ll all be using your master bath. Out front off the kitchen or dining would be a much better location. You can add higher rails for privacy, cover with lattice or plants or both. Tons of options/ideas.

Thank you all for your help back in February! I’ve finished the room, and here are the Before & Afters. Photos are hard to get in such a small space, but hopefully it gives you the idea! Same bed, new art. Same sheets, new duvet cover & blankets. And a new cleaner wall colour (SW Shell White). Mango wood drum bedside tables to soften the edges; salt lamps on dimmers to provide enough light for reading, and an Apple Homepod Mini to use as alarm clock & speaker. Cellular blinds instead of the sheers. And springtime outside, instead of winter. Tidy new closet door, and fewer objects on the walls (nothing except the two paintings above the bed). And last but not least, those alcoves are gone! The photo doesn’t do it justice, but now the wall just disappears, and the room feels bigger. Again, thanks for all your help! I really like how it turned out. If you see anything else that it needs or any style faux pas (… yes, like the even number of paintings above the bed), I’d appreciate your suggestions.

No, I think that's too small a room - very few people use full size (double) beds any more - it's either a twin or a queen. Remember, most renovations don't actually increase the resale value enough to pay for the cost of the reno itself, but I wouldn't do anything that would decrease the value (as I think that small a bedroom would do). In my immediate family, we've lived in 6 different condo buildings, and none have forbidden interior changes - but the condo management does require plans (and licenses of all tradespeople) approved in advance. I took out a wall and doubled the size of my kitchen, but there were some hoops to jump through before hand and extra rules for the team while they were doing it.

A couple of thoughts: Maybe hang wide curtains/draperies flanking the window behind the bed, so the bed is backed for its whole width rather than "hanging out" beyond the window? The molding frames on each side of the window would then need to be narrower (to my eyes, anyway), so they are entirely visible beyond the curtains. Something like this? (Not decor suggestions particularly, just showing how the bed wall might be arranged.) Plan the picture frame molding placement carefully, because it will determine size and placement of everything else in the room: furniture, art, mirrors, lamps, etc. Your inspiration photo feels beautifully "right" because everything relates perfectly to the moldings. I love picture frame molding, but it does constrain you.
